Ooh I see. Thank you. ![]()
We are watching Scarpetta-about 5 episodes in. I read a lot of the books many moons ago. I couldn’t picture Nicole Kidman as Scarpetta but she is better than I thought.
The books were set in Richmond VA (southern part of state) but the show in Alexandria VA (just outside of DC). So why does Benton (sometimes) have a southern drawl and that family “plantation” home would not exist in Alexandria.
Most of the cursing doesn’t feel natural to me so it feels gratuitous. Same for the naked dead women.
Liking Jamie Lee Curtis and young Pete in particular.
RE: Ted Lasso. It took me three tries to get into it. That series is NOTHING like the first couple of episodes might lead one to think about it. It may have a sports setting, but TL is a profoundly deep, layered story about the human condition, with a whole lotta “feel-good” built in. I wish everyone in the world would sit down at 7pm every night and simultaneously watch and think about Ted Lasso. And Roy Kent. And Keely. And Sam Obisanya. And Leslie. We’d be changed. In a good way.
For those who do give it a chance: pay attention to EVERYTHING. Book titles. T-shirts. Posters. First and last scenes of episodes and seasons. ALL.OF.IT.
We also watched it for a while, but as I recall I really found several character so annoying I got tired of being in the same room with them.
I’ve been watching the reboot of Scrubs (2026) and I’m loving it. Excellent reviews too!
The penultimate episiode of Season 10 was a bit of a tear jerker, but I’ve recovered. ![]()
And it’s on normal TV. We’ll have to check it out.
Has anyone started The Testaments yet?
Me too. Reboots often fall under the category “ things nobody asked for,” c.f. Murphy Brown, Night Court, but this really brings back the feel of the first 8 seasons. (Season 9 of the original just sucked).
Yup. I didn’t realize next week is the finale. That was quick
Oh, good, I’m not the only person in the world who didn’t get into Ted Lasso! I’ve tried s few times and watched several episodes but it doesn’t appeal to me.
I watched the Malcolm in the Middle reboot. I liked it much more than I expected that I would, mainly because of the final episode. Strangely, it made me think of the no-contact thread on here.
Finally finished Jury Duty Company Retreat, what a great ending, paired with Love on the Spectrum, warm fuzziness.
I just finished Mad Men. I know it’s old at this point, but was there ever a consensus on what Don’s ending was?
I loved the ending sequence during the last episode of The Pitt.
So fun.
Mad Men spoilers in this link - your warning if you haven’t watched and still plan to!
Thank you for the link! It was a very good review of the finale.
I found it dissatisfying to not have a clear ending for Don…
Anyone still watching Friends and Neighbors season 2? I can’t think of much good to say…
I’m watching it and enjoy watching Jon Hamm, but I feel like it’s gonna go bad for him
I binged “Beef” this weekend (season 2). I thought it was really good until the finale, which was disappointing. Still worth a watch, though.
I noticed “Beef” on Netflix list. We had tried one (maybe two) episode from Season 1, and it did not grab us. Worth another try?
They start with an entire new “beef” premise and new actors so you might like S2 better?
(Not my thing but..)
Watching Margot’s got $ trouble and so far it’s good. The premise: promising, immature college student gets pregnant from professor/sex partner and decides to have the baby. The actors (Elle Fanning, Michelle Pfeiffer ) are excellent.
