I am anti-Culinary Cip because Padma defected from Top Chef for it. ![]()
I thought Padma would be hard to replace (always hard to follow someone else), but I like Kristin Kitsch as host on Top Chef more than Padma.

Practically weeped watching “Call the Midwife”.
I looked up whether or not this was the series finale. Technically it was not—season 16 will air, but not for a while. They’d like the produce a spin-off series, and a full-length prequel movie set in the 1940s. THEN, supposedly, season 16 will be produced.
This is according to the interwebs, which are never wrong, right???
The spin-off is the prequel, set during WW2. The movie is set in 1972. And then season 16.
BBC confirmed this
I have been watching this since it first aired, I don’t think I have ever practically weeped, usually a full on ugly cry on the hard ones. I don’t watch with anyone.
Thank you, I got the plots of the sequel and the movie switched.
My “interwebs” comment was meant to be a joke about how some treat the internet as infallible—I can’t count how many times I’ve ‘asked’ the AI on my phone a question and the answer was either outdated or simply incorrect. I take everything I read online with a grain of salt, especially when I don’t recognize the source.
I would assume the BBC has accurate info about its programs…
The younger Turner kids will be full teenagers by the time they get around to Season 16! One of the fun things about the show has been the same actor playing Timothy since the early seasons and watching him grow up and become a doctor.
I love CTM and have seen every episode. I’ll miss it when the end truly comes along. I agree @one_two about watching Timothy grow into a young man. It is amazing to me how much he looks like the actor who plays Dr. Turner.
I’ve really liked Call the Midwife. After the first few seasons I read the books and didn’t like them at all, so I’m glad they did a better job (at least for me) with the show.
Interesting, I am a reader and usually prefer reading to watching, and love historical fiction. I think at this point, after all of these years, I’ll just stick with the show.
A few years ago, I listened to a long podcast interview of Call The Midwife writer. (She actually is married to actor for Dr Turner.) She said the book’s material for inspiration was all used in Season 1… then all new stories. She had a sweet story about how the extended family all gathers to watch the finale episodes, don’t even pay her much attention - they just love the show.
Dh and I watched that Gary episode of The Bear tonight. Depressing but well-done. I was hoping for more of a feel-good buddy roadtrip thing.
So was Richie.
Just finished Big Mistake. Got even better with dark humor as time went on. Netflix.
Is it just me? I have such empathy for Richie.
I have empathy for Richie too. And like how his character has developed in the series. I was just joking that he also mistakenly thought that trip to Gary was going to be a feel good buddy road trip.
We finished the last season of Shetland. (They are fairly short seasons. We’ve savored it, stretched over a few years.) Was glad to see that they are filming season 11, perhaps available as early as Nov 2026.
Without any spoilers, I’ll just generally say that cast transition over the years has turned out OK even though we at first were skeptical.
I finished Rooster and season 2 of Running Point. Really enjoyed them both. Love Scott Speedman. ![]()
Also, caught up with Hacks. I’m going to give Big Mistakes a try.
OMG I am down to one season of Grey’s Anatomy. What a long, strange trip it’s been!
H and I have been watching season 2 of Running Point this week.
