This season of Four Seasons my favorite episode was the Covid Thanksgiving one with Steve Carell back.
That one, and also I LOVED the sight gag with the aunt in the hospital room. Today in a waiting room before my cataract surgery I was telling dh about it and laughing and laughing.
I liked the second season because it was more character development and not so much drama.
I finished the last 2 episodes of The Four Seasons season 2 yesterday and laughed out loud so many times, including the scene with the aunt in the hospital room. I hope it’s renewed for a season 3 as I want to know how things work out for Anne and her Italian adventure and for Claude & Danny. I had trouble sleeping last night and found myself thinking about all of the characters and how they had grown through the year. I enjoyed this season more than season 1.
I have 2 or 3 episodes to go. I’ve really enjoyed it and will miss it when it’s gone.
I started this on Hulu. From the Times:
Imagine your best friend started dating someone half his age. Now imagine that someone happened to be your daughter.
That’s the premise of “Alice and Steve,” a British dramedy now streaming on Hulu. This setup could have easily resulted in a broad sitcom rife with tasteless jokes. But the show, created by Sophie Goodhart (“Sex Education”) and directed by Tom Kingsley (“Stath Lets Flats,” BBC’s “Ghosts”), is a nuanced, often laugh-out-loud examination of aging, parenthood, friendship and our hunger for affirmation from the people we love.
With Nicola Walker and Jemaine Clement as Alice and Steve.
I found the 2016 BBC mini series War & Peace on Peacock the other night. Turned it on just to see if it was any good and finished the 8 episodes in three weeknights. Highly recommend. The acting is excellent, especially Paul Dano (Pierre), and the scenery is amazing. It was filmed in Russia (which is now off limits), Latvia, and Lithuania.
Oof! halfway through the fourth episode of Rooster. Not sure I”m going to keep going. I had fairly high expectations, but it is turning into the Bro Show. The anti-woke jokes seem straight out of Tucker Carson or that ilk. Hard to believe this is the same folks who did Ted Lasso and Shrinking.
Widow’s Bay is really good if you like horror. Non-gory.
On episode 5, I think it’s pretty good.
Widow’s Bay is excellent! Super scary (imho) and also very funny. Mathew Rhys is perfect as the earnest mayor in denial ![]()
. I learned the term “final girl” thanks to Patricia.
Waiting for the last episode of Widow’s Bay. I’m surprised that DH is enjoying it as this is not his genre. Neither of us have found it very scary, but it’s an interesting premise for a TV show though it might be hard to develop a second season (not currently planned) if this one puts the “problem” to rest.
Thanks for the correction! I just love that he had a cameo.

spider-noir. not typical superhero genre. actual film noir style with nic cage. offered in black and white or optional color
I finished it last night and I am bereft (well almost). Yes! The aunt! The running outfit! The inadvertent revealing photo!
I also finished Four Seasons last night and dang, sorry to have it end so fast! I adore all the story lines, the characters, the easy entertaining watch, the feeling of wanting to know and see these people more. Perfect recipe for a tv show for me.
I also have to say that I can relate to Kate in terms of her personality and I love Anne’s quirky fashion style. And Steve Carrell does a great job of playing an a_s!!! ![]()
I just got a notification from Netflix that The Four Seasons has been renewed for a season 3. Looking forward to seeing what’s next for this group of characters ![]()
Netflix cancels Lincoln Lawyer after season 5 (which is currently filming.) Sad and surprised about Lincoln Lawyer, although I did not love the last season. But, that’s more about me not loving falsely accused stories!
Oh, that’s disappointing
I’m not liking this season (4) much. I thought I d been spoiled by AppleTV due to the dialogues feeling flat and the story unoriginal. I’m sad they cancelled it though because it showcases LA and its many neighborhoods well, and I really liked seasons 1-3 as a fun filler. ![]()
I came on here earlier to say that I was on the fence about Rooster. Just finished it and I will say it definitely improved in the second half. I ended up liking it a lot. Still think it missed some marks a little, and as a person who worked on college campuses for about 35 years, I think some situations were ridiculous (drugs and drinking with underage students???) but overall good writing, interesting characters, well done resolution.
