Binge watched tv shows (Part 2)

Anybody finish The Other Bennett Sister this week on Netflix? We found it to be light, cute, escapist fare. I guess it has done well enough that a 3-part Christmas special will be made.

Britbox, not Netflix, correct? I wish it was on Netflix!

Oops, you are correct, sorry! I may have had Enola Holmes 3 on my mind, which drops on Netflix on Wednesday I believe.

I’ve got 2 episodes of the final season of The Bear to watch. I agree with you --the first several episodes weren’t my cup of tea. Sometimes all the angst in the show gets to me.

Now that my houseguests are en route to Norway, I can reclaim my bedroom recliner and watch all the stuff that’s been piling up in my browser tabs.

I can do without the Fak brothers, too. I don’t think they add anything – they’re just too silly.

I loved this final season, though. Great finale!

I haven’t gotten around to this season yet, but the Fak brothers made season four more of a slog than it needed to be. I basically hated every scene they were in.

Matty Matheson Won Fame as ‘the Screaming Face.’ But He’s Over That.
The prolifically profane chef loves his sweet role on ‘The Bear’ and life on his Canadian farm, but he’s a bit weary of playing the clown.

Agree. Episode 7 (second to last) is Emmy-worthy, I think.

Changing speeds a bit….. who watches the sappy Sweet Magnolias??

I need to start treating TV like books - it is ok to DNF!!!
I somehow started watching this first season - probably it winter and I had more time to watch tv. I’m not a Hallmark channel/movie girl. Which it definitely is similar to.

I’ve continued watching and am watching this season….but MAN, the acting is SO. BAD. I don’t know if I can continue!!! I have issues with nearly all the characters but find myself really finding fault with Maddie - the main character - TO ME, she does NOT give off the “power woman” vibes they all claim her to be - she is more “wet sappy noodle” vibe to me . And if she and her husband Cal don’t stop all their passionate kissing in the middle of the living room as family walks by…..

Had to get that off my chest. I’m gonna need to watch the final season of Bear to get a better dose of reality, lol!!!

I do! Like you, I’m not a fan of Hallmark-type movies and shows, but somehow I got sucked in and have watched every season. It originally dropped early in the pandemic, so I think it was just a comforting show. What gets me is how every character is SO supportive and understanding, and they spend so much time talking about their feelings - even the men with each other! Extremely unrealistic but still kind of fun.

I watched a season, maybe two. So sappy!

We’ve been enjoying it. I saw a Youtube video about Jane Austen and what she had to say about what happened to the characters after the book. (Or for many just in the last chapter.) It sounded like The Other Bennett sister follows what her nephew said happened more or less. It wasn’t super-detailed and I’ve already forgotten!

The Britbox series is based on a 2020 novel of the same name.

I just finished the first season of Mindy Kaling’s new Hulu show, Not Suitable for Work. It’s a twenty-something comedy. I liked it a lot…nice easy watch with good characters.

I finally finished The Bear. Perfect!

I am struggling to get through because I loved it at first and I would like to know how it wraps up. But first few episodes feel like it’s worst non-finished, stuttering conversations, overdone emergencies, and Faks. Hoping it will get better.

We finished today. The ending is worth the chaotic first few episodes.

Oh yeah, it does. Even various Faks redeem themselves.
