Thanks! Though hard to imagine. Last season I wanted to throw things at the TV whenever they showed up. Cannot understand the appeal at all. It would be like, serious drama, then the Three Stooges. Over and over.

I totally would have gone to his real life concert in character at the Beacon in NYC in early June.
I did read the books, so could probably just jump to season 3.
I needed a light show (but not sappy) and ended up watching Outrageous on Prime. At first I thought it was a bit…well, outrageous but it moved fast and I kept watching. I noticed it said it was based on real people. And I thought “no way”. So I looked online and yup, this was a real family and one of the daughters did do that! And another was that! (I don’t want to give any spoilers 
.)
It is set in the 1930s and based on the Mitford family (and the book The Mitford Girls). My FIL knew about about them.

I binged HBOMAX’s Somebody Somewhere this weekend. Has anyone else watched this?
It was a really good drama with lots of feels. Three seasons with 30 min episodes, so not too long.

Late to the party, but after seeing that Ludwig season 2 is dropping on Britbox next month we decided to watch the first season—very enjoyable, a good mix of funny and serious.
While I’m here, anyone watching Patience on PBS? It bothers me that the new detective refers to Patience, who has autism, as “Headphones”, as in “Hey headphones, are you coming with us?” Seems very disrespectful to the autism community in that it has continued over several episodes. I keep waiting for the character to gain respect for Patience and realize what she’s doing is wrong, but not as yet.

“Somebody Somewhere”. We loved it. I hated it ended. But, perhaps it was just long enough.

Watched 2 shows last night, both very good, but should’ve switched up the order. The first episode of season 5 of Trying was of course funny and sweet, looking forward to this season. Then we watched Gary, the one show before the next season of the Bear. It was good, really good, but was not a warm hug, more like a throat punch. I am looking forward to this final season though.

I saw here that Trying was back but misunderstood that it wasn’t all the episodes at once. Sat down thinking I was going to watch a few last night. So what is the time jump between S4 and 5? Seems like not too long plot wise (Scott is still rowing, but then again he is slow). His daughter looks slightly older but Tyler looks so much older. And Jason and Nikki both look different somehow. Older? He looks a good bit thinner.

There is no time jump between s4 and s5. There was, however, a 2 year gap in filming, which is less of an issue for the adult actors, but kids grow up. Cooper Turner (Tyler) was 10 when S4 filmed and 12 when S5 was shot. We simply suspend disbelief

We finished Four Seasons, but it was a slog…
I watched the new season of From. I have a lot to say, but it’s difficult to do so without spoilers.
From was initially marketed as successor to Lost – same executive director + producer, stars an actor from Lost, both shows involve protagonists being stuck in a unique location (island on Lost, small town in From), similar style of mysterious events to understand what is going in location. Differences include From skipping the Lost backstories about the different characters, less emphasis on love triangles, and more stuff happens with the streaming 10 episode seasons vs filling up time for commercials with 25 episode seasons. From also has a much stronger horror/monster element, sort of like what Lost might have become if Stephen King was a co-author (King is a fan and has praised the show many times) or if Lost was combined with Wayward Pines.
If I had watched the first season of both shows at the same time, I think I would have preferred From to Lost. I found the plot captivating with the protagonist family getting stuck in weird town from which they cannot escape while on a road trip, discovering how that town works, and figuring out how to live in the town – both how the town works (why is there electricity, what happens if you dig down deep enough, what are the monsters, what happens if you explore further…) and how living in the town works with things like choosing day (choosing whether to live in Colony House and implications), Michael ringing bell at sunset, how they get food and run diner, … It was easy for me to picture myself in this situation and think about what’d I’d do, and in many cases it was similar to character decisions during 1st season. I also especially like the intro with a dark Qué será, será theme song and accompanying pictures. It’s one of the few intros I don’t skip over.
However, over time the show has gradually changed, and by the 4th season these changes are quite noticeable and problematic. It seems like the writers come up with a new mystery or plot twist each episode, most of which are not properly explored, make little sense, and are not predicated by anything that happened in the previous episodes/seasons. Mystery after mystery is added, yet there are rarely satisfying answers to these new twists. In many cases, it seems like the writers forgot or just decided to move on to something else. Both the characters and monsters make poor decisions that are inconsistent with their goals. The horror element doesn’t work well any more, nor is there much suspense. The show seems to have lost its way.
I suspect that the problem stems from being an unexpected hit on a small streaming service. It’s by far the most popular original show on the small MGM+ streaming service and the reason a good portion of persons subscribe to the MGM+ streaming service, so they want to keep the show going. This forces writers to find a way to keep the show going beyond its natural conclusion.
