Some of the weather people here have lowered the forecast to 6-9 inches.

So it won’t be quite so exciting.

Hoping this thing fizzles out before it gets to CT!

Missouri does not seem midwestern to me, but neither does Ohio.

I love thundersnow.

I am so over this winter and my icy sloping driveway.

The boys have decided to leave Florida late tomorrow afternoon so should be back in Maine before any snow, other than showers, starts. I’ll still be a wreck just not as bad a one.

Proud to say I’ve driven all over the fly-over states. Backroads, too.
Much prettier than in the video!

“East bound and down, loaded up and truckin’,
We’re gonna do what they say can’t be done.
We’ve got a long way to go and a short time to get there.
I’m east bound, just watch ol’ “Bandit” run.”

Sorry, couldn’t resist.
:D

H called awhile ago. He works 2nd shift and the overnight worker to replace him can’t get in to work because of the snow. H was to work 8 am until 10 pm tomorrow as his long day. (He is 4 days on, 3 off and Fridays gives him the work hours to be able to do that).

So, I guess he is working from 2:30 pm today until 10 pm tomorrow night…

I went out and cleared off my truck and shoveled around it. We got probably 4-5" of sleet and snow plus I park on the street so had lots of it that was plowed in. So that was my exercise for the night ;)

That will make it easier for me to get to work in the morning…

Snow Day! Snow and sleet here now. At least son is happy there’s no school.

I heard that Wichita got 14 inches of snow which is the most they’ve had in 50 years. Really? For some reason I thought Kansas gets a lot of snow.

Well, the storm seems to have passed us by in southern Wisconsin. We got maybe two inches. Nothing to warrant getting our longjohns in a twist. :)

Sally - I used to live in Missouri. Trust me, it’s Midwestern.

Roads are snowy but otherwise fine here in Chgo

aquamarinesea, the parts of Kansas that border Colorado or are along Interstate 70 in the central part of the state and west are typically where the state gets most of its of snow. Wichita is close to the border with Oklahoma, and the area is more prone to ice storms. Since there are no large bodies of water nearby, typically the amounts received are no where near the amounts of snow in areas which receive ‘lake effect’ snow.

Thanks for that explanation, college_query.

One of the best “Mom” jobs - tiptoeing in your child’s room in the dark and quietly letting them know they can turn off the alarm - it’s a snow day! :)

9 inches. Guess the forecasters should have stuck with the original forecast and not downgraded. No public/parochial school. Community college closed (but they have mostly commuters). However, fear not, all those kids with the snow day can head on our to the mall. It’ll be open.

abasket - so true!

We have about 3" and it’s still coming down. It’s pretty light and fluffy so not anything major. Still waiting for a big blizzard this year but probably not going to happen. One snow day would be good…

Awww! I remember those days. But now, because they sleep with their phones, they know before I do.

One time my daughter got up at 5:30 AM for high school (as we normally did) and they called off school about two minutes before she left the house. So she went back to bed and got an extra 7 hours of sleep.

Nobody in high school in this house anymore but all the schools in this city were called off yesterday and today. We got a foot or more of snow yesterday.
