Bombing hits BostonMarathon

CNN front page: “Two videos lead to arrest in Boston Marathon bombings case.”

I hope this is true.

Boy, so do I!

LF, I can see the similarity between “interest” and “suspect” but huge difference between that and arrest.

From NBC News front page:

If they have seen someone acting suspiciously on a video, how do they go about finding the person, other than making the photo public and hoping someone identifies the person, before he/she runs away?

But if he/she would run, then wouldn’t publishing the photo to the public make them run also?

This is what currently posted on Yahoo News:

[Boston Marathon investigation: FBI may have suspect in bombings; arrest imminent](<a href=“Governor promises ‘progress’ in marathon bomb investigation while authorities push back on arrest reports”>Governor promises ‘progress’ in marathon bomb investigation while authorities push back on arrest reports)

“Arrest is imminent”. If this is what the FBI really said, I interpret that as “suspect is in custody” - otherwise, why would they say so with such confidence?

AP and CNN are reporting the suspect is in custody.

ttparent, that’s what I meant (and probably didn’t express clearly). Publishing the photo would make it more likely that they will identify the person, but also pose the risk that the person will try to escape.

MSNBC saying this incident has been characterized by conflicting words from usually dependable sources.

But I don’t think the pictures/video were released to the public, or at least they are not widely available in the public. Where do people see the pictures?

From the AP website:

The L&T store is right across the street from the bomb sites, between them.

ttparent, these might be the photos everyone was talking about.

[Boston News Station: Do These Pictures Show the Second Bomb Before Explosion and a Suspicious Man?](<a href=“Boston News Station: Do These Pictures Show the Second Bomb Before Explosion and a Suspicious Man?”>Boston News Station: Do These Pictures Show the Second Bomb Before Explosion and a Suspicious Man?)

^Those pictures of the man are on the same side of the street. Lord & Taylor would be from across the street.

[The Saudi Marathon Man : The New Yorker](The Saudi Marathon Man | The New Yorker)

A response and follow-up to that disgusting Post article.

BB, if that’s the suspect, I’m confused. That definitely doesn’t look like “brown skin” to me.

The Washington Times is reporting that it was a “dark-skinned” male.

Boy, I hope they don’t tell us too much more about how they catch these people.

They are saying they got a name from cell phone logs as he was on the phone at a particular time.

Sounds like an episode of NCIS and putting Abby and McGee to work.

Yes, I thought of that before. They have many videos and all cell phones are pretty much synchronized to the second, so they can trace all the calls for the exact moment right to the second on that cell tower.

How can someone drop something like that close to children, older people or anyone for that matter knowing the damage it would case them. That guy (guys) saw these people up close before dropping that bomb. It is so heartless.
