Bombing hits BostonMarathon

In some ways it looks like they blend in but they aren’t wearing Red Sox hats. It’s pretty common to wear Red Sox clothing and hats

Who or what is the source of the.photos? The camera seems fixed.

Pictures are from surveillance video of businesses on Boylston street. You can actually see the original video on youtube.

[Surveillance Video Related to Boston Bombings - YouTube](<a href=“Surveillance Video Related to Boston Bombings - YouTube”>Surveillance Video Related to Boston Bombings - YouTube)

lookingforward - I was under the impression it’s the security camera from Lord and Taylor, but I may be wrong.

I think it was the Lord and Taylor surveillance camera

It does not look like it is from Lord and Taylor. Lord and Taylor is across the street, this is from the same side of the street. Maybe the Lord and Taylor gave them first look and the moment when the #2 drop the backpack from far away, and they were able to find these from other surveillance video after narrowing down the time window.

Sneakers or shoes on these guys?

I have dubbed them the Bro Bombers. Look like they could have wandered over from BC or Williams

How about columbia? Fond of bombers over there.

^ Why Williams? Williams is not even close by.
Now if you said Harvard, then I’d understand (unabomber).

barrons, my first thought was that they looked like college kids, too. Of course, they are probably TRYING to look like college kids. It is chilling to watch the video of them calmly and casually walking down the sidewalk past so many unsuspecting people. The evil is unfathomable.

It’s pretty sad to look at the comment sections of various media outlets, which confirm that people see exactly what they want to see in those pictures: one group of commenters is insisting that these two guys are “obviously” Middle Eastern (and Muslim, of course) and another group is insisting with equal certainty that they’re white, and that they’re clearly anarchists from the Occupy groups.

A few are claiming that they must be Jews – no doubt from the Mossad.

And, of course, there are the conspiracy types who claim that these are innocent men framed by the government, which is behind the bombings itself.

People. Then again, I learned a long time ago that comments sections on news media outlets don’t exactly attract the highest class of commenters. Probably not much overlap with CC. At least I hope not.

Someone in Boston or the surrounding area knows who they are. You know that amateur detectives are looking through Facebook, yearbooks, etc. And the FBI is looking at passport and drivers license photos. They will be caught if they are still in the country.

So, does anyone think the authority is hot on their tails or they are completely lost? It seems to me they don’t have much yet and they need some help. I have a feeling that these young men are not local, maybe the bomb components can yield some geographical information?

Given the way that people are, this will (possibly) be much different than the first two kids calling and saying it wasn’t me. If these guys did it, they aren’t going to call in. Plus, they’ll likely try to flee by moving around someplace, and changing their appearance. It would seem smart to split up and go separate ways, but who knows whether they are local residents, or non-US visitors.

In any case, the FBI is going to have to answer God-only-knows-how-many tips from people who think they know them. I am glad its not my job to ascertain the prospectivity of the ID tips that will come in. How in the world would you organize that effectively?

Is it wrong that when I first saw these videos, instead of watching the suspects I looked at all the people around them to make sure I didn’t see myself and my family? I would hate to think we had walked right past them (or them past us). They certainly do blend in. A huge number of people there had baseball caps and backpacks (DH carried ours, with bottled water). They look a little old to be college students to me, but they certainly blend in. Hard to tell from the video - they could be Arabic or Italian or dark-haired WASPS. I also wonder if they live in the Boston area or came in, committed the crime and left.

On a somewhat more positive note, the Interfaith Service today was beautiful. I watched it on streaming video on my computer at work, and it did make me feel better. I have a young co-worker who was across the street from the 2nd bomb. She and her friends were really traumatized, although she seems to be handling it pretty well. She’s talking about it openly, which I think helps. I wish she had watched the service, I feel like it would have helped her.

Since I demonstrably can’t distinguish men from women, I won’t even consider possible ethnicities. I just don’t understand why young, seemingly healthy, attractive young men don’t have better options.

My HS son just told me that in an online discussion, people said that one of the suspects looks like the missing Brown U. student.
He showed me the photos, and I have to agree. . .

atomom, I’m assuming you mean suspect 1. That suspect looks bigger than Sunil Tripathi, who according to an article I read only weighs 130 lbs.

OMG, LOL, poetgrl!!
