I thought the photos of the guy in the white hat were quite good enough for people to recognize him. I couldn’t see the other guy’s face well, and I imagine that the photos they released are the best they have.

The guy in the white hat looks too old to be a college student. It is very hard to tell ethnicity, but some groups can be ruled out. Quite a number of groups remain.

I hope they catch them. I imagine they are long gone.

It wouldn’t be hard to get the records of everyone who flew out of the country or crossed the border between Monday and now, right? And if they did leave the U.S. they would have had to show a passport to get into wherever they went.

Of course, if they are still here they would be in hiding and changing their appearance.

My first thought when I saw the picture was a vague memory of balloons in the scene of the carnage caused by the bomb, and I hoped the lady with the yellow balloons and blue shirt is okay. Silly really, because if she is okay, it just means someone else is not since there is a finite number of injured.

Maybe the suspect was wearing the dress shoes in order to “blend in” somewhere else and then changed everything but his shoes to blend in at the finish line of the race.

I think these guys are in hiding, with the help of whatever group they are part of, and are going to be hard to find. I hope I’m wrong and that they are found soon.

Sax, the beige cargo or dockers type pants with black dress shoes is a typical private high school uniform. The two guys looked exactly like private high school boys, even to the backpacks. These guys look older, though, of course, but not by much.

Also, they didn’t seem like they were too worried about being recognized, did they?

You usually don’t see men walking around in public with only a white undershirt on…even under a jacket. (Maybe in summer as a trendier look with tight jeans…)

Zoosermom - You are right about the high school uniforms. My kids wore those clunkier dress shoes all through high school. It is almost like Suspect 1 is getting ready for a clothing change to give a different look.

Kajon, I often see my son’s schoolmates and other private school boys with the t shirts or with open flapping dress shirts when they get a few blocks away from the school. It looked almost like they were costuming themselves in that way.

There’s a picture of them in the aftermath. Much better than any that the FBI released IMO. One’s on the left and the other is behind a lady in pink.

ETA: These guys are not that distinctive looking. I’ve seen everything ranging from OBVIOUSLY “Jewish” () to CLEARLY “Arabic” to “Oh come on, they’re Columbian!” Truth be told, the one with the large nose looks like a young version of my own father and a current version of my cousin. I think that’ll make it harder to identify these guys.

They must have known that they would be filmed and photographed. In their place, I would have placed the bombs much earlier. Wasn’t there some chance that the bombs would have gone off from being carried around and jarred?

romani, that must be the photo that I heard about, of white hat turning right on Fairfield St. You are right that this is a much higher quality photo than the others, which look like stills from video. He seems not to have his backpack. I can’t see the other one very well.

Is there such a thing as a “thrill” bombing? No political agenda. Just for a “lark”? For some reason these guys brought Leopold and Loeb to mind.
