Local resident says 2 men threw what appeared to be “pressure cooker bomb” at police. Bomb robot still on Laurel St. (v

Now it sounds like one of the two men in the car might have gotten away.

I f there were indeed any explosives used that would be highly unusal for avg robber/carjacker.

heard it reported that the police in Watertown are also involved in search for marathon bombings suspects. makes sense to me that they themselves would think there may be a connection when there are explosions in this situation as well

Who’s saying? Can folks try to attribute? I’m so full of “the neighbor’s sister,” etc. X-posting, of course.

George Colli WVIT news reporting, massive police operation in Watertown

But what ties this to the Marathon? In fact, CNN just said no known connection and MSNBC has been saying. Not that they are perfect.

no one said there is a connection, however clearly this is very concerning to all involved as explosions/booms are highly unusual, and it followed shortly after the killing of an MIT officer. It is very mysterious, and all are on high alert, as they need to be right now. it may not have any relationship to the marathon bombings, but it is highly unusual

It’s major breaking news–take for what you think it is worth right now. Obviously cops think it could be something big–or not.

reporter on msnbc just stated watertown is four hours from cambridge, she was so off, it’s about 3 miles. wow, way to distort the situation

I am switching between all local Boston news channels. Ch 7 is saying it started as armed robbery of 7-11 in Central SQ, MIT cop was shot dead and they hijacked a car and were followed into Watertown. One suspect was caught, but another is still at large. It does not sound like it would be related to the bombing.

But campus security risks usually get huge attention since VT. And Boston’s violent crime rate had dropped but is still roughly 2x national rates. Obviously tensions are high and the police and FBI would be vigilant and concerned.

I haven’t heard anything that links MIT and Watertown. Supposedly mainly local police only in Wtown.

Well, late and finished my actual work so going home. Drive should be interesting (newswise).

The suspects reportedly stole a black Mercedes from Cambridge, but ended up being caught in Watertown, right outside of Boston.
