OH. MY. GOSH. The remaining guy’s apartment is a 6-minute walk from my daughter’s apartment, who is home right now.

epiphany, godspeed. Hopefully you are able to stay in constant contact with your D.

Older brother was out of the country for 6 months last year.

There is also a picture of white hat standing next to the kid who was killed. I wonder what the thought process was here…

My son was able to rent a car so he’s getting out of Dodge now. I’ll rest easier when he’s finally home. He has good drive ahead of him.

ttparent, Yes, but let me tell you, that every time there’s more than a 30-secnod pause between text messages, I become irrational. He lives on HER STREET.

Best of luck to your daughter, epiphany. I’ve been thinking that it’s highly unlikely that he’d return to that area after he made the escape to Watertown. It’s crawling with cops now, so no way he’d just slip in. So hopefully it’ll all be okay.

Bookreader, I’ve been debating trying to get a zipcar and get back to my family’s house in CT. Not sure I want to talk to the zipcar, but I’d be much happier there than here right now.

epiphany, you have skype? Is there anyone else there with her?

epiphany, they are planning a controlled explosion on Norfolk street in Cambridge so hopefully she knows about it so she doesn’t get panicked when she hears a sudden explosion. I have to agree with eireann tha most likely he won’t be going back to his home.

I think that’s one of the last places he’s likely to turn up.

ttparent, texting her to ask about that.

There’s going to be “a conrolled explosion” in Cambridge this afternoon, and I’m going to be an uncontrolled mother.

I didn’t even know about this a.m.'s events, but wondered why she texted me seconds after I awoke this a.m., telling me that she’s “OK.”

I don’t think he CAN go back to his home, surrounded as it is. FBI are also at the home of his distraught sister , where several blocks have been cordoned off, and his uncle, who was on CNN today urging him to turn himself in and calling the bombings “abhorrent”. Sister said she has not been in contact with her brothers and does not know “what got into them” but expresses sorrow for the turn of events.

Must be a nightmare for family members of these brothers. Hope he is found or turns himself in soon and that no one else is harmed. How very stressful for everyone!

My son texted my wife this morning and asked if we were ok? That was very nice of him.

Then why would the police be there? (Call me stupid. <shrug>)</shrug>

Eireann, nice Irish name, by the way. Were you at the Worlds in Boston a few weeks ago?

My guess is that it’s a major site of evidence and they want to be there just in case he shows up. But with that amount of police, him coming back there seems really unlikely to me. Although like I said, I’d be happier if I could get out of this whole area – I think that’s more about my own nerves than actual chances of having something happen.

Do you mean the worlds in Irish dancing? No, although I did see some on St. Patrick’s Day. :)

I assumed they were there out of an abundance of caution, a need to investigate the premises, and to assure people on the street they were safe. I don 't think they are there because they think he’ll come back, but BECAUSE they are there, for any reason, he CAN’T come back.

She’ll be ok ephiphany, but my stomach is churning for you right now. I’ve been in a similar situation and it is not fun. Both my sons are cops and it’s a very bad feeling when they are both called to the same situation.

I hope they kill the _____. Don’t care what his reason is, what color his skin is, what his religion is. He deserves to die. IMO

epiphany, I hope that this situation is resolved soon, peacefully. My anxiety level would be sky high in your place! But I imagine going home is the last thing the suspect would do at this point.

Are the police in his house, or just surrounding it? I’m sure they’ll find valuable information there.

eireann, you sound a lot more rational than I am. Maybe it’s because you are there. Id be wanting to leave, too. Will PM you.

epiphany - he’s not likely to turn up there precisely because the police are there.

After listening at the interview with the Uncle, I have to wonder what really drove the families apart. Something happened to make him not want anything to do with them, but he’s not saying what. He called them “losers” and said they hate those who have been able to settle - I’m assuming that means his own family. Hindsight is great, but I wonder what warning signs he might have seen, and why he didn’t want to associate with them after 2009 (I think that’s when he said he last spoke to them).
