Bombing hits BostonMarathon

Lbowie, what a stretch! What I am saying is what I did say. I am very grateful that the NYPD has disrupted so many plots. Funny how it works when words mean what they actually say, isn’t it?

Daily News has pictures inside 410 Norfolk street.

[EXCLUSIVE PHOTOS: Suspected Boston Marathon bombers lived in squalid, ramshackle apartment - NY Daily News](<a href=“National News - New York Daily News”>EXCLUSIVE PHOTOS: Suspected Boston Marathon bombers lived in squalid, ramshackle apartment)

Of interest:
a. no signs of bomb making
b. no sings of a child living there

Its unclear when Tamerlan came to the US- it is mentioned as 2003 and 2006 in some places. Supposed there are records of him boxing in 2004.

So if Tamerlan is here in 2003, then he is 15 or 16. How radicalized in a 15yo? Probably not very.

And yet Russia contacts the US in 2011 with concerns about Tamerlan. Since the kid hasnt been in the country for 8 years it can hardly be a hot lead unless the Russians are aware of a radical group who has been making contact with Tamerlan.

That pushes the date of his “radicalization” way back.

The photos of the apartment were interesting. The fact that their dinner was on the table waiting to be eaten makes me wonder if they suddenly decided to go out because of something they heard on the news–could it have been around the time their identities were revealed to the public? If that’s so, that makes me think they wanted to get caught or perpetuate some other act of terror on the public in Cambridge. DT was pretty brazen about going into the 7-11 without a disguise, knowing he was being sought and that his picture was everywhere.

I am not going to jump on any of the first responders , but did anyone see the video circling the inter webs with the FBI agent gingerly climbing over the gate…which was open. It was kind of funny seeing other agents walking thru it immediately following

Looks like a pressure cooker sitting on the chair in the kitchen in that picture but it could be something else.

I wonder if the plywood door was there originally
or put there after the FBI came though.

"He had to be outside the perimeter fairly quickly as Walnut St was part of the perimeter and they had a lot of LE vehicles there in a hurry.

He had to be? You know this for sure?

I dont think that German Shepherds are the best trackers but still with "urine and a pool of blood " you do have to wonder why the trail wasnt picked up. May there were too many people milling about. The Globe writer uses the picturesque phrases that the Charles was lit up with blue lights as it seemed like ever police car in Boston sped to Watertown.

Looks to me like a Rival ****-Pot which I own and BTW gets way too hot to do roasts properly. Slow cookers arent designed to hold any pressure.

I’ve read Xiggi’s posts carefully and I agree that authorities need to reveal more about their tactics. Not second guessing but it seems to me that the excessive backslapping from the Governor on down to the local police is clouding our view, or review, of the tactics employed in the investigation and manhunt.

And yes, the Russian Federation government has some ‘splainin’ to do.

Also, I just learned of the detention and humiliation (was it an arrest?) of the two completely innocent race fans at the marathon. Two kids who happened to be non-white. The NY Post had a full page photo of them with a sensational headline. Ruppert Murdock’s subsequent explanation was no apology. How lame and how despicable.

Well, it might be better to look at the elements that worked well instead of being critical (like I am)

Intercepting suspects who were tracked?
Pursuing fleeing SUV?
Locating SUV?
Setting up search area according to last activity of suspect?
Locking down local area?
Locking down most of Boston?
Theory of flushing out suspect versus retracing his steps?
Conduct with innocents?

Monday QBing perhaps, but it is hard to find positives. They did get the guy in the boat, but how could they screw that part?

If you look at any part of the world - Europe, Russia, China, India, and even Islamic socieites - Pakistan, Palestine, Iraq… you have people doing the same thing on a bigger scale - killing unrelated civilians. In any society at some point all of us will be upset over some things - it’s just that culturally some feel a reasonable way to release their frustration is to do what these did. Thus far in our society, people with this mindset is very rare - maybe less than one in a million; however this sentiment is not so uncommon if you look at other societies, and when they come over, that’s a heritage they bring along. Nidal Hasan was a doctor who could have been a 1%er - its foolish to suggest we give people even more so that they don’t feel victimized.

As far as Zakaria, yuck [puking noise] - he’s the reason I stopped reading Newsweek years ago.

Thanks, BB. This is what I was curious about.

I have seen it reported in several places that the wife and daughter have lived with her parents in R.I. for well over a year.

Dadof3–I certainly wasn’t suggesting that. I found it distressing to hear that implication on his show earlier.

I wonder if law enforcement intentionally leaked photos of the wrong people to lull the real perps into a false sense of security.

I have no doubt much was kept from us.
DH heard the Russians ignored a request for.clarification of their concerns.

We do have disaffected youth in the US. It’s an issue responsible for some violent crime, no?

I believe so from listening to the scanner audio. But I can listen to it again overnight to give you the time when they had the perimeter established. The audio is only 41 minutes and includes the time of the firefight. There was much less chatter after the perimeter was set up.

Arg. Does your slow cooker have a stainless steel lid?

Just curious

Without necessarily assuming beforehand that anyone in particular is to blame, it is important to understand why haters hate and why some haters become violent (and not just particular individuals or subgroups of haters based on particular ideologies). Understanding the process may help stop future haters from becoming haters. Failing to understand it may breed more haters, since hate tends to incite more hate (look around the world and see how much harder it is to make actual peace than for an ongoing war to continue – even one with a relatively low level of actual violence like Northern Ireland needed an enormous amount of effort to make peace at).

My slow cooker is stainless steel. Including the lid.
