Daughter just found out she’s waitlisted – she is crushed, BC was her top choice. Anyone know the chances of getting off the waitlist?
I assume it’s probably not very realistic.

She has 1500 SAT (submitted), 4.76W, and captain of two varsity sports
College admissions is kind of luck at these top schools…I sense the reader has the be in a good mood that day. Even if you are a stellar candidate, you might get waitlisted/rejected.
I’m sorry this happened. There is definitely luck involved - your daughter is obviously accomplished! The last waitlist data I see from BC (from their Common Data set) is a couple of years old but in the two most recent years of data they publish the waitlists are quite large and the number of kids accepting a spot form the waitlist is significantly less than one percent. I’m sorry - she will find her place! Best of luck.
Thanks, appreciate the info and the kind words
This form is for tracking decision results, so it’s all centralized for future students. If you could fill this out once you get your decision, that would be very appreciated!
You can see all other people’s individual responses in the links above, along with overall form statistics (such as what percent got accepted).
For what it’s worth, this one really does seem like somewhat luck of the draw. My son seemed quite qualified as well, and was flat-out rejected. A good friend of ours was even moreso, with high 1500s SATs, pre-med, magnet school, excellent GPA, shadowing/intern experience with clinics, and was rejected also. So a waitlist offer is a bit of a win (albeit still disappointing, I am sure). I am sure she ends up in a place that makes her even happier! Best wishes on this daunting journey!
It really does blow me away how hard it is to get into good schools these days – in my day (long time ago!) it was much, much easier. I doubt I’d get in anywhere today…
Does anyone know if the Admitted Students (Eagles) Days have programs directed at the parents (apart from the students)?
I was wondering if anyone knows about the pre med experience at BC. I’m currently contemplating between BC and BU over pre med. also I was wondering about the grade deflation claims regarding BC and how truthful it is.
I don’t remember any session specific for parents or for students. We attended the initial presentation and a tour together.
I assume everyone got the BC waitlist email?
What did the WL email say?
The survey asks if you would def attend, prob attend, likely not to or withdraw
We understand that accepting a place on Boston College’s waiting list has further extended your uncertainty around the college admission process, and we appreciate your patience. Now that you’ve heard back from all the colleges you’ve applied to, and since it may have been several weeks since you first accepted your place on our waiting list, we write to offer you the opportunity to further demonstrate your interest in attending Boston College.
Please complete this short survey by Monday, May 5, 2025 letting us know your current level of interest in Boston College. At this time, we do not know if we will have room to take additional students via the waitlist. If we do have additional space in the incoming class, the Admission Committee will begin its review of candidates who have reconfirmed their interest through this form.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Office of Undergraduate Admission
Boston College
Waitlist is moving - good luck all!
I just got off the waitlist today! I was admitted as a finance major and was given $81k!! My net price is only $9.5k. I’m so grateful, but I had a feeling it was coming. I was texted yesterday by my admission officer asking if I was still interested, I said yes. Then this morning I was called from financial aid asking some questions about my family. After the call ended, I was sent an email 5 minutes later with the acceptance! Good luck to everyone still on the waitlist.
Just got in!
Congrats, got in yesterday off the waitlist!! Have not received yet my fin aid package but i hope it will allow me to attend (0 sai index, family of 4, parents income 51k yearly income ). Do you think i will get a good package???
I’m a non-traditional adult undergraduate student who is a proud member of the Boston College Class of 2029. For Boston!! Go BC!
What did your aid end up being? Congrats!!
