Boston College Early Decision for Fall 2024 Admission

Funny story. We were in living room and my daughter was on her phone in the portal getting ready for an interview when she got a notification of status update. She looks up and said “I got in to BC” with a sheepish smile and we all went nuts. I told her that because she was RD that means she is a finalist for Gabelli. That information was a separate letter in portal. I are thrilled and relieved. The Gabelli Scholars is an unbelievable program and would put BC at #1 for her likely.

This message board has been such an incredible resource and it has helped us navigate the choppy waters of college admissions.

That’s wonderful news!

When will she know if she gets the full ride scholarship? Does all the finalists get it?

Does BC do interviews?

I think for the gazelle scholars there’s interviews.

Yes. This is true. There are three day on campus interviews for Gabelli in March. @BDZMom interviews are not part o the evaluative process at BC but I believe you can request one. We did a campus visit and my daughter reached out to set one up. The AO told us clearly that even though they don’t count “demonstrated interest”, they most certainly track it and notice it. My daughter had a couple face to face interactions with AO as well as email exchanges. In the most recent exchange he even referenced her current high school.

If your kid is high stats I would pay particular attention as they do yield protect and dont want to be Ivy back up plan.

Good luck to her, we are rooting for her! Looking forward to hearing some good things in March for her.

Did anyone get an email from Boston college requesting them to consider changing their regular decision application to ED2? My son apparently got one, actually two emails from them asking to consider.

Yes but the second one was quickly after the first clarifying the deadline date to make the change.

Do you know if it was a mail sent to everyone or particular students?

I don’t know but know that others also received the email (based on another thread). The consensus was it was generic but who knows!

Good. Would hate if it demonstrated non-interest or counted against him for not doing it. Obviously ED gives an edge, but we want to be able to make a cost effective decision and weigh which offers the best incentives/programs.

yes, we also received the email

Did anyone deferred from ED1 get that email? I assumed since my child was deferred to RD, he wouldn’t be able to change to ED2. Is that right?

Yes that’s correct

Heard that ED2 decisions have come out in the past on the first Thursday of February (which would be this Thursday). Anyone know if that is accurate?

The last few rounds, BC admissions posted a heads up on twitter (X) a few days before decisions were announced.

In my D24 portal, there is now a financial aid counselor listed. She is waiting on ED2. This was not there earlier today. Has anyone seen this? Does this have any meaning?! BC is her #1!

We have one assigned too

Has it been there for a while on your portal or is it also new?
