Boston Transfer Thread Fall 2015

@xonnaux I am in my second year of my first semester as well, so that is my best guess.

@xonnaux what are your stats, if you don’t mind me asking?

@xonnaux @mislysBB did you send mid term grades? I sent midterm grades and was accepted several weeks ago and I am in my second semester. Not sure if by spring grades you mean final grades or mid terms?

@bioengdude yes, I sent in my midterm grades. When I say spring grades, I mean final semester grades. Are you a sophomore or a freshman?

@mislysBB I am currently a freshman.

@mislysBB Allow me not to disclose them  (They are legendarily embarrassing) And yes, I have already submitted my midterm grades. Finally received an email from BU today saying that they’ll try their best to accommodate my request for an early review. Sigh.

@mislysBB Have you requested for an early review? I would highly recommend you to do so…

Did you hear back? I got my transfer decision today, got in so I know for sure you did too!

Is there a forum to go to once you’ve already been accepted as a transfer student? I had a bunch of questions about housing and which is the best and how to get apartment style housing for transfer students, and of course if the grade deflation rumor is true!

@nyutransfer2015 I’ll be up there visiting Thursday through Saturday, if I find anything out I’ll be sure to post in this forum about it. It will be my first time going.

Oh cool you’re staying overnight too? Is that an out-of -state thing? I’ll be there too on Thursday!

@xonnaux well, they can’t be that embarrassing if you are applying for BU ; my highschool stats are pretty poor compared to most, but I am hoping BU can look past that.
I don’t know if they would put me on a read early list though. They are pretty adamant about having my spring grades. I guess I could ask after I submit them?

@mislysBB I was informed about a week ago that they haven’t received my professor’s recommendation which was very odd. But then, I still proceeded with the request. In the reply email, BU didn’t mention anything about missing items or whatsoever.

Hey guys, did anyone hear back yet?

Has anybody heard from financial aid? My dad owns his own small business, so it takes a VERY long time for our financial aid documents to be completed because he has to wait for documents for his employees before he can do his own, which takes months. My family has also been dealing with the loss of a family member, and among other things, and basically my profile was not completed until April 6th, but the fafsa was on time.

BU did not give me ANY grant aid whatsoever. And I only received 9,105 in federal aid, for the whole year. I am planning on attending BU, but know for sure I can NOT afford that with the nonexistent aid I have been given. My EFC is only 3,132!! I know the profile was late, but clearly from the 3132 efc, I clearly need the aid.

@nyutransfer2015 I didn’t finish a part of my CSS profile. So I haven’t been able to receive a financial aid package yet. However my EFC 0 so I don’t know what it will look like. I heard that it is best to go to the school and talk to someone in the financial aid office and there might be a possibility to get more money

@nycgirl20 Yeah that’s a good idea! I’ll be there on Friday anyway for the accepted transfer open house thing, so I’ll be able to talk to someone then. I thought my EFC was a bit high myself considering my parents don’t have anywhere close to 3125 laying around in the bank to throw away lol. I 'm also a twin who is in college as well, so it’s like double the tuition money until the both of us graduate.

@nyutransfer2015 I wanted to go the open house but I get out of class to late. Yea lol try it because one time my etc was 500 and for one of the schools I had to pay $13,000 to of pocket. Good luck I hope that you are able to get more money, apply to scholarships while at BU that can help!

To those who have been accepted: My application was officially completed a week ago today (I mean, it was already complete, they just finally managed to update my applicantlink). About how long after that (this late in the game especially), should I theoretically hear back?

I finished my application last week, because my college report was not entered. I got in yesterday so maybe a week or two
