You know that you can deposit to more than one place right
I mean you can but it could cost 1000+ dollars depending on how many/what schools
aren’t some refundable?
just to clarify- we have to put our deposit down at BU by june 1 right? im still waiting on my bc, gtown and neu decisions before i commit
I also got no aid or merit. Sent an appeal but doubt it’ll lower the price tag by much if at all It’s a bummer how transfers get left with the short end of the stick
is BU worth the debt tho considering I’ll be pre-med??
That’s wonderful about Cornell! Congrats
We’re from MA. BU is considered a wise investment. Many top tier schools that we investigated normally do not award a financial aid package unless top 5% GPA of applicants and/or show demonstrated need. At the school where my son received the most merit, he was over qualified or in that top group. At the schools where he was “shoulder to shoulder” or “barely got in”, he got smaller or no merit packages. Transfers get even less. We knew this going in. For my son’s career path (International Space Policy), an alumnus is currently at the Space Station. Just for the alumni network alone at BU, for our family, we feel the investment is worth it. If you’re going to med school, maybe talk with others in that profession to get feedback?
I did read that within the departments, once you have professors to guide you, there are financial resources, funding and grants to support research and other “field related” opportunities that may help.
If i submitted a deposit to another school, i would be spending $800 just there and I already contacted them asking if it could be refundable and they said no. I can’t afford to just throw $800 away like that sadly, so it’s a tough situation
yeah- it sucks because BC doesn’t release until may 20th, and even though i didn’t apply to neu i heard that their decisions don’t come out until june
I think decisions for both bc and neu is released on a rolling basis too so it doesn’t mean we will hear back from exactly that date, it might be earlier
I’ve heard that if you confirm with more than one school, you can lose both offers by breaking the agreement you signed up for. like, if I confirm with BU and BU finds out I confirmed enrollment at the other school, they could both pull my offer of admission/aid due to breach of terms
Pretty sure that is only true for Early Decision. There is no such commitment for transfer enrollment. Just read the fine print when you make the payment to be sure.
Hey guys I’m thinking of making a group chat for accepted/waiting BU transfers, what platform do you guys prefer? I know there’s a Facebook group but imo it feels too formal & idk how often people check it so I was thinking a discord server or groupme.
Okay I ended up making a discord server lol, nothing’s set up yet but I’ll do that in a few minutes Boston University Fall 22 Transfers
Does someone also want to start a GroupMe? I also feel like that could be super useful!
nobody uses discord
Yes but they did tell me I would hear by a certain date and I never did, and it sucks because I’m supposed to submit an enrollment deposit by May 3rd for another school and now I probably have to give up on there because of the lack of decision from here…just the way it goes lol
Honestly if it’s like that I’d say try and talk to both BU and the other school and explain to BU ur situation and you could try and ask the other school for an extension on the deposit or if you can withdraw your commitment later on bc ik two people who did both of those things
