Bristol Palin & Levi Johnston

I hope for the sake of all of them, particularly that beautiful baby, that they can make it work and create a stable and loving home for their family. Grandma Sarah is clearly not happy with the situation, given the wording of her statement, which isn’t at all surprising, given the history there.

You know, I wouldn’t give a damn what Bristol did if she wouldn’t say things like [speaking of abstinence until marriage] “I think other young women should have that goal.”

That makes me think many uncharitable things, but it also makes me sad. Bristol, there are better goals. I think young women should have education, independence, and meaningful work as goals. The love of a partner who respects you and your family is a pretty good goal, too. You can have all those things and a pre-marital sex life, too, if someone teaches you how. I wish that someone had taught you.

Levi better hope his wedding tuxedo comes with a bullet proof vest. We all know that “Granny’s got a gun!”

I agree with alwaysamom. It is positive if they can work it out to be married, particularly for the baby’s sake and so this could be good news. It will be difficult for Bristol in that her parents were never keen on Levi even before they had the baby and still likely are not. It is obvious Bristol feared telling her parents of the new engagement and even told the magazine before doing so, which is unusual. So, this can be hard to overcome but other couples have done so. So, I hope it works out for these young people, and again even more so because they have a child together.

Hanna, I have to agree that the abstinence message (which generally I don’t think is a good approach to birth control) with Bristol is irksome because it is saying, “you should practice abstinence, even though that “method” did not work for me.”

Are we still looking for names for the reality show?

Levi’s Johnson

Mama Grizzly and the Pit Bull

Abstinence Is Not Enough

Land of the Midnight Son

My Mother-In-Law: the Grizzly

(I think I should stop…)

LOL x10 @mafool!

ROFL at “Levi’s Johnson”

Never mind the fact that a young woman who isn’t going to college, doesn’t have a job, doesn’t have her own home, and is engaged to a young man with no education and no job, is telling other young women what their goals ought to be.

I don’t think she has the faintest idea what goals are even possible for young women. She doesn’t even know what she’s missing.

Hanna, you are right…Bristol would never be a “spokesperson” if not for being the daughter of Sarah Palin. But so goes it.

Well, Hanna, I don’t know about the “no job” part. Seems as if she and her fiance are executives in Palin Inc. It is apparently a national franchise that generates lots of income.

hayden, yes, I think Bristol and Levi will have a source of income. I mean they didn’t have to choose magazine covers to announce their engagement, etc. etc. but these sorts of things are going to be what they do and will garner them mulah.

soozievt

They might be okay, if they hold onto any of that mulah. So far, they have not shown a propensity toward delayed gratification. Let’s hope they grow up a bit. Fast. Like, by the end of July or earlier.

sigh.
Wouldn’t it be nice if they could just be left alone to work things out?
I know, they are inviting and profiting from the publicity. But I wish it weren’t so.

Any bets if Levi and Sarah will dance together at the wedding? I betcha she leads!

mafool, you’re right. I take some level of interest to the extent that Bristol is around the same age bracket as my own children. Consequently, some of the interest reflects our anxiety for the futures of our own children.

you think Sarah would like to do the Bristol Stomp?

I wish them all the best. They’ve been through a lot, with one having a convicted dope dealer and addict for a mother, and the other, the first one’s best friend.

'nuf said.

“the Bristol Stomp”…now THAT’s funny.

You think Sherry can get a release for the wedding? Maybe Sarah could put in a good word for Sherry with the Department of Corrections.

Or, do you think this wedding won’t have either mother of the couple in attendance? Is that necessarily a bad thing? I wonder if Todd has the --antlers–to show up even if Sarah won’t?

You think Senator McCain will show? Wasn’t he highly supportive of them getting married?
