Question: does BU send out acceptance packets to students?

I just got denied from BU and I’m heartbroken since I am getting denied from almost all my schools. I got denied from UVA Northeastern and Stevens Institute. I thought I could maybe get into some of this schools but I guess not. I also applied for engineering. Here are my stats:
GPA: 3.9 UW 4.3 W
SAT: 1390 (790 math,600 reading)
3 varsity sports
100+ volunteer hours

@ParentPK I’m a current senior graduating with an economics degree from BU, so I can obviously speak to BU’s program. In terms of the actual rigor/coursework, it’s the same as what you’ll find at Harvard (as I have friends who are econ majors and we’ve compared exams/problem sets). There are numerous research opportunities (BU produces the 13th highest number of economics citations of any higher education institution - https://ideas.repec.org/top/top.econdept.html) which help a lot when applying to graduate schools and firms. I myself am entering consulting at a top 10 ranked firm by Vault, and nearly every one of my peers in senior electives signed with firms last semester. As long as you don’t double major (unless it’s with math) you can also pursue an BA/MA, which is a really strong program (here’s an example student profile - http://www.bu.edu/econ/undergraduate/outcomes/#meyer). While I did not apply to UNC, I did get into NEU and I personally chose BU for economics because I found it to be a stronger program with really deep industry connections, a liberal arts feel and a forward-looking program (I learned R and Stata in my 200- level courses that helped a lot when it came to consulting recruiting).

accepted to COM! NJ, 1510 SAT, 4.01 W GPA. (so many acronyms!!) Accepted to Kilachand but no money at all, so looks like it’s off the list for me.

Oh also I was denied with thank you message & request for senior grades–if future applicants read this thread.

But I was given next to no financial aid/scholarships/grants, which means I won’t be able to go :frowning:

Ugh. Daughter was rejected- 4.0 Unweighted GPA, 34 ACT, Full IB Diploma, Valedictorian. Not sure what else she could have done? Congrats to everyone who got in!

Accepted to Questrom!

Offered $50k/year in grants plus more with loans. I was shocked, didn’t think I’d get that much aid at all.

To those who received the Presidential Scholarship: Where was this information located? Also, did you have to apply separately? I got into the Kilachand honors program, but unsure whether I will be able to attend without any financial aid.

Did she get guaranteed transfer? I’m trying to gauge how common it is and you daughter has steller stats

Accepted for Computer Engineering

Many AP’s and Strong EC’s
Got the Richard D. Cohen scholarship which I guess is a free ride

I was actually not expecting to get accepted so I’m pretty excited. I am told the Cohen award is a pretty big deal too which is pretty exciting

Hi everyone. My S was accepted this morning. For future CC’ers, the portal message began with “our records” from December through March 9, when the message changed to “thank you.” I don’t think we’ve learned anything about that this season except that it looks there is no correlation between those words and the decision. But, fwiw, the FA message changed last week to simply “Your application is complete. A decision is pending. You will receive notification in the mail.” The bit about being able to see the decision online was gone, which was very strange. We hypothesized on here last week that such language might mean no merit aid would be awarded and, in fact, none was. (But we were able to see that online, lol.) We got a Perkins loan for $2,750, so possibly anything that will arrive in the mail will be related to that…

I want to extend congratulations to those who were accepted today. You should be very proud of your accomplishments.

For those who were not, who knows why… I’m so impressed with and encouraged by your generation. You are all rock stars! I know it might be hard to believe but starting tomorrow, you will feel better and ultimately, you will look back and be grateful that you went in another direction. I assure you that you will all end up where you were meant to be.

To all the people who are confused as to why they were rejected: Nothing is a given. Even with great scores, grades, letters, and ECs; you can’t ever assume that anything is a gicen. Take it with a grain of salt and know you can move on. More acceptances will come and you’ll be where you’re meant to be in September.

Accepted to CAS with Trustee scholarship and Kilachand Honors College!
Some stats:
1560 SAT (superscore) -1500 single sitting
3.9 UW, 4.7 W gpa (so you don’t need to have straight As)
pretty good ECs, and I worked REALLY hard on my Trustee essay, I think that may be why I got in
Congratulations to everyone who got in, and to those who didn’t, I wish you all the best and know that you will find an amazing school.
