BU RD Class of 2022

Accepted to CAS with 35 ACT, 4.0/4.75.

@TomSrOfBoston If I email BU right now, do you think I can transfer before I start college? or is basically decided now?

Accepted to College of Communication!

@CatherineF

I feel that it’s hard for me to give an unbiased opinion on my essays, but I’d say that they’re average at the very least. I put in a lot of time and effort with rewriting and proofreading but at the same time they’re definitely not great.

ECs are kind of weak as I put all of my time into Cross Country and Track, but it did end up with me taking on a team captain role for Cross Country. Besides that I was a member of NHS for 11th and 12th grade.

I applied to University of Connecticut and Penn State for safety, and fortunately I’ve gotten into both of them as well as RPI, so it’s not like this decision is the end of the world. Still waiting on five more decisions but it’s not like I don’t already have some decent options.

Accepted to the College of Fine Arts! +$29,000 in aid :slight_smile:
GPA: 3.31 (extenuating circumstances)
SAT: 1470
ACT: 35
Average Common App essay
EC: Piano 11 years, varsity lacrosse, art (California Arts Scholar, CSSSA)
8 AP classes total (2 junior year, 6 this year) – french, bio, psych, music theory, art studio, art history, calc ab, lit
100+ hours community service, currently working at a roller rink.

I cant believe i saw someone with a 3.4 get into questrom and i got waitlisted with better stats from arts and sciences…

@jj1999 there must have been a good reason why they got in. GPA isn’t everything and isn’t a perfect indication of a person’s academic achievement as a whole.

@StressssedOut I also got the denied + 2019 transfer option. I haven’t read into it too much so I don’t know the details, but if accepting the transfer option doesn’t cost any sort of enrollment fee and if it’s not binding, I don’t see any point in not taking it.

It will basically let you hop over to BU in your sophomore year if you want to, and if you don’t, then nothing’s lost and you can stay at your current school.

anyone know what the acceptance rate was this year?

@ParentPK Wow I totally disagree with @comom25. As far as being in Boston goes, BU is in a nicer/safer location. Although NU has a bit of a “campus,” it really isn’t much and overall, it is pretty closed in and scattered a bit. BU is a nice mile stretch along the river. BU also has a nice area around Nickerson where students stop and gather for a game. West campus is really active. Northeastern doesn’t have a stadium or field, so that is a bummer. It is nice and close to the museums if you like that. You also have to decide if you value Coop or not. The schools are so different, it really isn’t comparing apples to apples.

@vegucated26 22% not counting CGS January admits.

@TomSrOfBoston
Set up an appointment with someone from the financial aid office.

@knightstemplar Merit aid is not handled by the financial aid office.

You may be able to negotiate a bit more need based aid but not merit aid.

“Should you remain interested in Boston University, you may consider the possibility of transferring to BU after two semesters of strong academic work at another accredited college or university.” Is this part of the 2019’transfer options or is it the generic rejection?

@vegucated26

ED 42.8% (916 accepted)
EDII 14.5% (275 accepted)
ED/EDII 28.7% (1190)

RD 3.5% (2110 accepted)

AVG Acceptance Rate 22% across all application types

ACTUAL Acceptance Rate 5.1% (3300 accepted out of 66,000+ applications)

@shafthalf It’s generic. It is not the guaranteed sophomore transfer offer that many received.
