BU RD Class of 2022

What?! Are you saying, @GrusMinion , that only 3.5 % of RD applicants were accepted as a cohort by themselves, and this cohort does not include the CGS January London students?

@GrusMinion You are assuming that everyone accepted RD will attend. BU’s yield rate is about 22%.

@Winky1 Yes, that is my understanding from another section of CC that has been collecting 2021 data for a couple dozen universities. Let me see if I can find the link. It covers quite a few schools. But the math doesn’t lie 66,000+ applications and 3300 openings for freshman is ~5%.

Sorry that data was for 2021, but I’d guess it’s quite similar for 2022. Exception is that this year they are targeting 100 less slots.

Accepted to Questrom with-
4.1 W
35 ACT
4 years of CC and Track, 2x state qualifier
DECA state champ/ internationals qualifier
Roughly 13 AP/IB classes
Several other clubs such as Spanish club
3 fortnite solo wins (probably the reason I got accepted)(sike that’s trash)

@GrusMinion 22% acceptance rate is approx 14,000 acceptances. The ED #s may be correct but the RD is low. Should be ore like 10,000.

@GrusMinion Again. The yield rate is not 100%. That is what you and this other guy are missing.

accepted/# of application = acceptance rate. # enrolled/# admitted = yield rate. BU's yield rate is about 22%.

66,000 apply times 22% acceptance rate is 14520 admitted. 14520 admitted times 22% yield rate is 3200 enrolled.

It is just a coincidence that the acceptance rate and yield rate ae the same.

@TomSrOfBoston I said acceptance rate NOT yield, so I don’t appreciate your snarky reply. I have no problem with your information but there is no need to resort to such nastiness. There are many ways to slice the numbers or interpret information, you don’t have to be a condescending “[fill in the blank with something you’d find unpleasant]”. The tone of your discourse was not at all necessary.

Accepted to CAS
GPA: 4.07w
SAT: 1510 (800 M, 710 W)
Female

@boy$$$ I see your point and appreciate that you didn’t need to insult me while doing so–thanks.

@GrusMinion no worries. I appreciate you sharing. The #s are interesting

Accepted to CAS, but no merit scholarships
3.96/4.41 gpa
34 act
Good ec’s and recommendations
Okay essays

I will probably be attending NEU where I got 20k.

@boy$$$ The BU site says, “Percent Admitted: 22%”. I think this is rife for interpretation and because it doesn’t show which data was used to arrive at that number it can be confusing. Best to you in the future.

lol I got in for sept 2019 at BU but was admitted to UCLA yesterday so I’m going to UCLA for sure. Congrats to everyone!

@Winky1 No what I was extrapolating was out of the remaining candidates there were only ~2200 spots available given the enrollment target at BU. Sorry if I stressed you out at all–definitely not my intent to do so. Good luck to you!

rejected for fall 2018, accepted for September 2019

You didn’t stress me out at all @GrusMinion . Were you accepted?

@Winky1 Reject Fall 2018; Accepted Fall 2019. After all responses from schools are in then I’ll be better informed to make a decision. I look at it as a great opportunity and option, so it’s on the table. How about you?

I am so glad you are keeping an open mind about the GT. My son got that, too, as I mentioned earlier today. My D was accepted into Sargent. They gave her a very nice grant, but everything has to be considered and compared to other schools. She is still waiting to hear from 4 more schools.

if I got into COM school does that mean I also get the major I applied for
