@sagra After completing the 2 year CGS program with a minimum 2.0 GPA you transition into the College of Engineering.
Does BU have any type of group/page for class of 2022?
Yes, there is a facebook page.
Admitted to College of Engineering. Looks like there’s no “capped major” issue at BU Engineering, as at many other schools. Anyone have any info on this? If I’m admitted to COE can I pursue whatever major I want?
Just got the big white envelope!!! What’s inside? Can’t wait for D to come home…
Hey all, I had a quick question regarding BU’s financial aid. So I received a surprising tentative offer of $53000 a year in grants and scholarships. However, my stats are not that impressive as my SAT is a mere 1490 and my gpa a 3.8/4, granted I have internships, sports and volunteering for my ec. Anyhow, the word tentative concerns me a tad bit. How subject to change are BU’s offers? Also my parents make slightly over 110k a year so that makes me wonder whether or not the number I was provided will change much.
@MagicMasala your stats are good - don’t downplay them! but i don’t think it’s very subject to change. all financial aid offers are “tentative”, given you enroll and graduate and maintain passing grades senior year. I wouldnt worry
Can someone tell me the average acceptance rate for BU Undergrads class of 2022?
22% not counting the London program which probably adds a lot more
@introtoxx what is the London program?
its where they study abroad for a year then actually go to bu later
@momo2x2018 It’s the CGS Boston-London program, where College of General Studies freshmen do their first semester in Boston starting in January, and then second semester is completed in London over the summer, returning to Boston for the remaining period.
The January Boston-London program consists of 400 students.
@introfoxx @YoungOne4 That sounds like fun! Do students have to apply in to the program or are selected? which uni in London? Joint degree?
@momo2x2018 You do not apply, you are assigned. It is conducted by BU, there is no UK university involved. No joint degree.
@TomSrOfBoston Thank you, Tom!
@TomSrOfBoston Do you have an opinion of CGS as it is currently structured and operating? I myself went through the program a few decades ago and remember liking it. I had the vaguest sense that the enrollees were sort of viewed a little “differently” by kids who were directly admitted to the BU school of their choice, but I don’t recall that being a problem for me because I found the classes sufficiently challenging, my classmates intellectually inspiring, and I’d say the experience made me “scrappy.” I like being scrappy. It has served me well. I transferred into what was then CLA, declared my major, graduated on time, went to graduate school, and the rest is history. But I’m curious about your opinion of the program now?
@YoungOne4 CGS (CBS) is a good alternative entry path to BU. The splitting of the entry class between Fall and January/London is an attempt to improve admission stats as only Fall admits count.
@TomSrOfBoston do people get more or less aid based on what college in BU they wish to go into? Or is this solely based on stats and family income?
@TomSrOfBoston Is it your opinion that CGS is a good option for someone who would pay full tuition? I mean, I think so, but I am interested in your opinion.
