@Appendixx we legit have the exact same stats. what other schools did u apply to?
@liumingxin What major? My son has very similar stats for CS and expecting the same news at this point. I don’t get it either.
Rejected!!
@liumingxin you would think with that amount of wins you’d be a shoe in, disappointed with the cal state system
D rejected today. Civil Engineering.
MCA at least 4300, tons of EC, volunteering, job, 3.9 unweighted, IB classes.
Anyone have experience with re-applying the following year? D is at least a year younger than most of her class so she can take a year off from school… not transfer.
@TheMomager4, she could, but she’d likely experience the same outcome and be a year behind. There’s really nothing she can do to strengthen her application now, short of boosting her standardized test scores or moving to SLO County. Cal Poly is not holistic. They only consider numbers.
What is important for her (and you) to know, is that 80% of people surveyed about their undergraduate choice report positively, whether it be their first, middle or last choice. I’m sure the other 20% might not be happy anywhere.
It’s far more about what she does than where she goes. I’d encourage her to pick her favorite of the schools she is admitted to, not to look back, and make the best of it.
Good luck.
@TheMomager4 i think the problem is she’d have trouble raising her mca score and the cutoffs will get higher and higher every year
Rejected D:
Major: Mechanical Engineering
CSU GPA: 4.0
ACT: 34 (or 35 if they used my December ACT score)
Praying for the rest of the UCs.

Almost all of those are “I might regret it in 10 years if I don’t apply, but I don’t expect much” schools

Thank you @eyemgh. I think she planned on raising her SAT and ACT (maybe actually study for them). She might go to the jr college in SLO and try to transfer. We have family in there, she was going to live them. Who knows, she’s still trying to process the rejection. You’re right though, it’s what she does and than where she goes…

@Charlie117: From the SLO website::::
Appeals to Undergraduate Admission Decisions - Freshmen and Transfers
Cal Poly does not set aside spaces for students who appeal admission decisions. Every denied application has been reviewed for maximum consideration. Therefore, for an appeal to have merit, it must bring to light new academic information as well as information pertaining to extenuating circumstances that was not present in the application information that clearly shows the student to be stronger than had been earlier evidenced. Neither grades received in the current academic year nor mistakes made by the applicant on the application are a basis for an appeal or the reversal of a decision.
