Mine gets a 4.24 with 1 B junior year. Bummer they have to cap at 4.2. His super score is only 1480, so he could really use some extra points.
really hoping for a wave today. I’m stressing out
Still no determination here (OOS).
Why the stress? Is this the only college you applied to?
No, but it is my first choice. I’ve been waiting for so long and I’m just really ready to hear back
While we wait, where will you or your kid attend if Cal Poly does not work out?
@ksquaredmom - S18’s top choices aside from CP are Dartmouth, University of Washington, Colorado School of Mines, Virginia Tech, and UMich. A big spread!
My second choice is Colorado School of Mines!
Looks like last year people heard on Thursday the 16th around 4:00
He only has acceptances to UMich and Mines from that list so it’s a wishful top choices list!
Well, good luck to him and everyone else!
@VickiSoCal (30 x 4 + 8) / 30 = 4.26
I have to divide by 46 (or 50 if middle school math and foreign language counted) for 9-11th grade
our school (San Diego) has 4 permanent transcripts each academic year: August-November, November-February, February-April, April-June. Math/English/Science/History has always 2 grades, classes like Government/Psychology has 1 grade. So my GPA is (40 x 4 + 6 x 3 + 8) / 46. Now the problem is this 8 points, 8 / 30 obviously higher than 8 / 46
Same problem with UCs’ application. Anybody could explain?
@VickiSoCal @katzfish @CopperlineX2 my D has all A’s except for 1 B junior year and has the 8 max weighted points which gives her a 4.13 cal poly gpa so she doesn’t get the full 2250 mca points either. now she has a 4,686 mca score.
on another note, csulb acceptances went out this am. my D checked around 10am and was accepted into the Pre-kinesiology exercise science program. one of her friends got in as well. so now cal poly slo can come out anytime
Thanks, same to you, @rachelosb !
@VickiSoCal
@ningve brought up a good point … how do we add in and then calculate the middle school math, foreign language, and college english?
The more classes you have the bigger the denominator is… So adding classes will make it a little harder to max out at the 4.20. But… it will add to your MCA because you will get more of the Class Rigor points for additional math, foreign language, English, etc…
They cap rigor so low. I doubt they are including the grades from the middle school classes.
You can still go to the Cal State Apply website and look at your submitted application for SLO and it has your SLO GPA caluclated there. If this isn’t the GPA to use for calculating MCA, someone please tell me.
I thought I read SLO recalculates their own GPA for each application after it is received
^^^ The GPA on Cal State Apply website is for all CSU schools, right? isn’t it just counted 10th and 11th grade?
