Cal Poly Class of 2022 Thread

Someone should call up cal poly slo admissions and ask them when they might come out

Probably Thursday/Friday, but hey, they may come out at midnight.

I just checked the portal!!!

Nice site.

A girl at my school says that she has gotten into the slo honors program, but is there even such a thing? Could she be confusing slo with pomona?

“Each year, a select number of conditionally admitted Cal Poly students are invited to submit an application to join the Honors Program. Invitations are typically sent in late February or early March. Applications are completed and submitted electronically and are typically due near the end of March.”

i’m in the facebook group for cpslo 22 and someone oos said they were accepted yesterday for software engineering

Generally Software Engineering majors are accepted into the Honors Program, so that may be the reason for early admission.

So if you applied for SE and didn’t get invited into the honors program you’re pretty much doomed?

I darn sure hope not… I applied SE, but I don’t meet the GPA requirement for Honors…

You can read about the requirements here. https://honors.calpoly.edu/content/admissions

@E4tHam @SupremeCactus you both are not doomed not all SE majors are offered the honors program. Keep breathing and hang in there.

I’m not sure where the rumor got started, but there’s no link between honors and SE. No one gets invited to the honors program (with the exception of high AP Calculus scores being invited to honors math). You apply AFTER you are admitted. Since no one except international students have even been accepted, let alone admitted, I’d say the info is specious. It is possible however that they are an international.

I got my acceptance for ME on Feb 17 last year, so they’re obviously a little later this year. Applicant pool is bigger. They’ll be out really soon.

No, the slightly larger application pool can not explain the significant delay this year. I believe it signals some internal process change. Maybe they are ditching the MCA and going holistic, as is the trend for every university.

BTW, if you are following the UCLA forum, similar thing is happening there. The application pool increased a tiny bit, but the Alumni and Regents notifications are significantly delayed; and the Alumni invite has become holistic.

Cal Poly doesn’t have enough information from the application to implement an holistic admissions process.

I’m really surprised at the delay. UT completed their holistic review and sent out decisions to their priority applicants (applications in by Nov 1) by Feb 1. Not sure of the numbers but they had to have at least the same amount of applications that Cal Poly does.

Any hope for decisions coming out this week?

could it be thursday and friday this week?

My daughter got conditional acceptance in computer engineering. She received the email an hour back. International applicant.

I’m glad to have this thread to check. Although, compounded with this endless waiting game, it’s become a slight bad habit, lol … In a matter of days, we will all have our answer.

The comic relief of that video link someone posted a few pages back (the guy griping about Cal Poly) … and also predictions of false hope/midnight notifications is appreciated.

My D has no chance of getting into Poly - it would be a miracle. Yet, I still hold that sliver of hope and check this thread.

What are your daughter’s stats? I feel like I have no chance too, and I’d like to compare

I seriously doubt they’ve become holistic. One, as previously stated, they don’t have the data, but two, they don’t have the staff. My guess is that the new application doesn’t jive with the MCA and they need to figure out how to fix it.
