Cal Poly Class of 2022 Thread

stats?

Daughter checked the portal yesterday and was accepted to environmental engineering!! She received an e-mail last night. In-state.

@calpolyalum page four states freshman applicants receive extra MCA points. Often puts locals over 5000 MCA score. It’s fair since the purpose of the cal states is to provide college access within commuting distance. It’s not like Socal, where our kids have at least 5 great public universities in driving range.

calpolyalum, My son’s counselor told him SLO was a reach for this reason (local preference for impacted programs like engineering). However, I could not find a mention of this just now on SLO’s website. My understanding is that is the policy for all impacted programs at any Cal State school. See related articles and CSLA website links below. Let’s hope that is not the case for SLO, but I suspect it might be. Good luck to you D, let’s hope the numbers are in her favor. I would be happy for a waitlist for my S at this point. He already has a great offer from Purdue and 3 other schools not on top of his list, but SLO is his #1 instate.

Laurenshay18 did you get in? My daughter was notified by email last night that she has been accepted to Environmental Engineering.

@MamaLlama27 my son was accepted OOS aerospace on Thursday. We are waiting on friend for ME OOS. Are they definitely out?

I misspoke, my son’s unweighted GPA is 4.0 and ACT 35, applied to AE, no word yet. With the few stats I have seen posted here for AE and ME accepts, I would be happy with a waitlist spot.

@NWhummingbird I have no idea if they are all out. I have seen a few on this thread for ME, OOS and IS.

@CopperlineX2 Thank you for posting that doc. I found that somewhere back in October, but could not today.

Yay Laurenshay18! My daughter got into environmental engineering too!! We live in San Diego. What part of CA are you from?

Has business admin been released yet? I’ve seen very few responses on this thread thus far.

@calpolyalum @marinay @meb1meb1
Sorry for the delayed response, I was on a boat, no service. My information comes from how it goes in the past years. Internationals trickle out first, OOS goes out on Wed, IS goes out on Thurs and Friday, nothing on the weekends and Transfers go out on Monday. Only difference from the last year’s is that it was 2 weeks earlier which Cal Poly said the process would start later this year. If you scroll back on this website you will see it too. So it’s not inside info, it’s just the way they always do it. I have 4 kids that have gone thru this process. I will be completely estactic if they do it differently this year. I am hoping they do!

Has anyone heard from economics? I saw 1 or 2 acceptances but thats it. Wondering if they will be sent out monday.

Thanks @centralcoaster. Being on a boat sounds like a grear Saturday! In 2016 when my son got in for EE it was about 5-7 full days of i state before heading to transfers and mixed amount of waitlists, rejections and some acceptances. So I think likely we will see a day or two more of instate acceptances. Perhaps @eyemugh or @Gumbymom have some better expert perspective. Sending happy acceptance thoughts everyones way for Cal Poly and their other schools!

Is the collective conclusion that more more acceptances for in state will come Monday and Tuesday?

If we do get waitlisted, how long until we find out whether they will accept or deny is from there

i hope so! but don’t be alarmed because colleges can be random. I know some people last year who got in but got their acceptances a lot later… you can never “predict” when admissions come out. also cal states say they will be notified by april first and its barely march so i wouldnt worry.

@calpolyalum

Info can be found by Googling Cal State local admission. I tried to post a link to service area charts.
