My son took 3 years of English. Then 1st semester Senior year Eng 300 at a city college, for second semester he’s currently taking Eng 302. Would the second semester of the English 302 count as a 5th year?
Yes, 1 semester CC class = 1 year HS class so he would have 5 years.
Or early next week?? Oh boy - well thank you for making the call that was awesome of you to share!
Thank you for calling and sharing information.
Do you know if 4 yrs of English is a deal breaker? My son has taken AP lang and Aplit but only 4 yrs total. Seems like such a weird recommendation.
It’s not a deal breaker at all. Many people get in with 4 years of English.
Good to know! Thanks for giving those of us who did not know hope. It is such an odd request. My kid took an extra math class over the summer so has 5 years of Math which I would think would be equally if not more desirable but it is what it is! Good luck to everyone!
They ask for 5 years of math as well.
It looks like they ‘require’ less math than English. Only 3 vs 4. But they recommend 5 of English- and 5 yrs of math is recommended for popular majors.
I have 4 years of English and 5 years of math. I hope for the best!
You will be fine. All of this speculation can make you mad. More than four years of anything seems strange to me.
Yeah, when I saw that they recommended so much I thought it was strange… most people do not go that overboard. But I did take AP Stats with AP Calc BC, so that is where I have the 5 math classes. I got into SDSU early in December, so I am sure it’ll be fine.
My D22 got an admission. She took math(AP Cal)and English(AP lit) for four years. She only took them for four years and it’s not a problem.
It seems portal is down right now?
Mine is working.
Did someone say they sometimes release at 7pm?
Not today folks. Let’s hope for tomorrow. Have a good night.
releasing today possibly?
Hey everyone, I am a student who applied to Cal Poly to be a 2025 freshman, I have 4 years of English, 3 years of math, a 4.2 GPA, and am graduating high school a year early (as a junior). Do we think these stats are good enough to possibly get in? I applied for a public health major, please let me know! Also good luck to all others who applied, it’s a tough school to get into and I’m eagerly waiting to hear back just like everyone else.
4.2 GPA, is that the SLO GPA? SLO recommends 5 years of Math so 3 years can be an issue.
Since SLO gives rigor points for the number of a-g courses taken above the minimum’s, graduating early could have an impact on your chances.
Public Health has a general projected admit rate of 17%.
You will know soon enough about your decision so all you can do is be patient and wait.
