ok, thank you for the info. I understand they go off of a-g courses but I have taken all needed and have done it all in a year less than usually. I also have maxed out on dual enrollment courses through my high school as well as taking additional college courses. I can only hope and wait at this point but thank you for letting me know.
@Gumbymom I am curious, do you know anything about EOP? I have heard from my school counselors and teachers that if a CSU rejects you and you qualify for EOP and submitted the application in time, the EOP Admissions team checks your application again and can accept you? I’m not sure about the accuracy nor can I find much info on it from Cal Poly’s site. Does this apply to other CSUs and not Cal Poly? Not necessarily that it guarantees acceptance but helps boost a chance of acceptance?
Thanks in advance.
I am far from an expert on EOP but this is my understanding. EOP students that have completed and submitted the application are considered for admission through the normal application review. Due to capacity limits, the student can be admitted to the campus but not necessarily the EOP program.
However, if the student is denied campus admission then going through the appeal process, the applicant would have to show new and compelling information for a reversal.
So a student can be reconsidered for EOP if the applicant has been admitted but the applicant is denied campus admission they must file an appeal and EOP as the basis is not new and compelling information.
If you are applying to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly SLO) and are denied EOP admission, you can appeal the decision by submitting an EOP Admission Reconsideration Form within 10 business days of receiving the denial, highlighting any extenuating circumstances or administrative errors
Edited:
- Unlikely Reasons to Appeal:
- Missing the application deadline.
- Not meeting EOP eligibility guidelines.
- Being denied admission to the university due to impaction criteria.
Here is some information from the EOP website and FAQ’s:
Should students interested in EOP submit applications for admission to several CSU campuses?
Yes. Students should submit an application to the campus of their first choice. Applicants who are denied admission may request that their application materials be transferred to the second-choice campus.
If a student is denied admission through EOP, what happens next?
A student denied admission through EOP who 1) is academically eligible for regular admission as determined by the CSU eligibility index, is referred to the Admissions Office for regular admission, or 2) is not eligible for regular admission, may be referred to a community college to improve his or her skills, or the student may request that admission materials be forwarded to the EOP Office at the second-choice campus.
Any chance of it coming out today?
I would hope so. I am keeping an eye at past critical times like 3:30 PM, 5 PM, and 7 PM Pacific.
Let’s hope for the best
Thank you for passing along the info. Next week kinda makes sense. I have a current 2nd year at slo and the campus is tightening up security for St. Fratty’s this weekend. They may not want new admits showing up to campus this weekend to check it out so may be putting off admission decisions until next week.
Just checked another thread and a few international applicants (Idonesia, etc) have heard back from slo with acceptances today. Hopefully this means we are next! I am in state California and still not seeing anything on the portal
I agree with you about the party and concert this weekend and not wanting people to show up. The security restrictions are all over their health and well being Instagram page. Says “Don’t test your luck”. They even have a sober center. Sounds like they may be busy with the event.
That makes a ton of sense. Could also see them wanting to wait until any arrests / damage reports are out of the news cycle, so maybe waiting until next Wednesday or something like that. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.
Makes sense! Last year when my other daughter was in the app cycle, it was kind of a major mess and some newly admitted families definitely got a less-than-ideal impression.
I’m not sure that created any real admissions issues. I think people are generally pretty comfortable with Cal Poly despite the St Fratty’s day shenanigans. Decisions have been released in the lead up to March 17th regularly and if people are turned off by St Fratty’s it won’t matter if the decision is March 12th or March 18th.
Does anyone know if there’s been common decision dates between international and national in the past?
Ya’ll really think they’ll wait til next week to release?
If it’s not Today 7 pm PT, I would expect Monday then probably.
why not tomorrow - Thursday?
they have a trend of releasing on Monday but the pattern was broken this year since we haven’t received anything, but i’m guessing its from the risen number of applicants
I think you might be mixing SLO up with a different school? They have no pattern of releasing on a specific day or date recently. I posted this in the thread above, but here are the notes I have for the past several years first SLO release dates:
2020: 3/3 (Tues)
2021: 2/23 (Tues)
2022: 3/10 (Thurs)
2023: 3/10 (Fri)
2024: 3/11 (Mon)
Thank you! So they are definitely a little behind “normal.”
2021 date was actually a Tuesday. In state found out that day, but it was during the pandemic. Release dates are always random with SLO. Hopefully you will all hear very soon. Good luck!
