First, I’m comparing housing with UCSC, not to Iowa.
Second, I was referring to off-campus housing, where if you start looking early enough, one can find housing that’s nicer, better and cheaper than UCSC. That’s been our experience.
UCSC and SLO were among D21’s top choices and I’m pretty aware of the housing/rental market in the Santa Cruz area. Off-campus housing cost was one of the main reasons were chose SLO over UCSC.
Daughter got a portal update that she got $5 scholarship. (Very nice and unexpected.) Do you know if this is need based? merit based? We did complete the FAFSA.
I will check with her and reply when she gets home.
I love my typo – $5 (which would not even pay for the frozen yogurt she’s out enjoying right now) – should read $5K
Daughter is super bright but also a slow standardized tester. She is more of a 90%tile tester but admires a good friend who did achieve National Merit. Good to know CP offers – she has several friends who will apply next year.
It does not state any name. (But when she tries a View Details button the screen does not change, so maybe there are more details that she just cannot see at the moment.)
All of the high stats kids at my daughter’s HS got into SLO. They have one of the highest acceptance rates in CA. There are so many SLO kids there that a lot of kids don’t end up going because they don’t want to see everyone from high school. We are located in Long Beach, for references.
We are not aware of this. S25 is a NMF and already got a NMF corporate scholarship. Appreciate any relevant info you may have. I guess we can call financial aid if not too late.
In previous years, SLO knew which students were NMS and would send an email to the student asking them to upload their NMS verification letter. The past couple of years, SLO awarded it without the student needing to upload the letter.
