You really think?
hope so but earlier the better!
Maybe, I was just wondering! I think they usually release every week with waves, but idk what time or if itâs acceptance wave, acceptance/waitlist, waitlist, etc.
another wave tonight?
nobody knows
We hope there will be another wave tonight (Friday, March 21). The way Cal Poly SLO handles admissions decisions/announcements is idiotic, to put it frankly. Releasing admissions decisions in waves â where nobody is exactly sure if decisions are released by acceptance/waitlist/rejection OR randomness â is frustrating and anxiety-inducing for applicants. And I donât want to hear âwell, Cal Poly SLO just gets so many applicantsâŠthey have to do it this wayâ. UCLA gets way more applicants each year, and yet they can still do one massive decision rollout (tonight at 5 pm, hopefully). We are just sick of the games. Release the decision so we can move forward!
$5? Thatâs more than we got, lol, lol, lol! Lucky!
Cannot agree more.
Well said!! At least with UC schools you know day/time and decision all at once. No essays, and no interviews!
I just saw this on the Honors Page under FAQ: Please note that this yearâs application does not include essay questions. Late applications will not be accepted.
are we thinking maybe around 3pm? 6pm?
You said it well.
I would say probably 6pm following last weekâs wave.
No idea. It is just speculation, as far as when the next wave will be released. And nobody even knows if there will be ANY acceptances in this next wave. We contacted Cal Poly SLO Admissions today, and they seem to be enjoying âplaying coy.â They are offering NO information whatsoever.
They are very transparent about what they are looking for in admissions, and itâs different than other schools. They use an algorithm and (if my memory is correct) they like to see 4 years of a second language, 5 years of English, 5 years of math, a job with a percentage of time related to major of choice, etc. They donât value one EC over another. Itâs no surprise that their results are significantly different from other schools.
Hi
Here is the facts pageâinvite only
Iâm interested the the jobs/work related to major of choice â does anyone have some examples of these? Particularly in the engineering/math/science area, seems pretty tough for a high schooler to get paid work in any of those fields. But maybe it just plays less of a factor for those majors.
Let me preface by saying that Iâm not trying to be contrary, and my daughter was accepted into Mechanical Engineering so I donât have a bone to pick with SLO.
I agree their selection method seems dissimilar to other schools, and there certainly has to be some logic to it, but the details you describe seem unlikely as they would be difficult for any HS student to achieve. As I understand it, SLO is only looking at transcripts through an applicantâs junior year. Most high school students would find it nearly impossible to have completed 4 years of a second language, let alone 5 years of English and 5 of Math, in only 3 years of high school. I know my daughter only had 3 years of French, 4 of Math, and 3 of English by the end of her junior year.
Whatever the method is that CP SLO uses for accepting applicants, it does create some results that many could understandably find confusing.
I believe they count the classes the student has scheduled senior year, just not the grades.
Senior year classes listed on the application are considered for HS rigor and the total number of a-g courses so those recommended years can be achieved.
