My daughter heard back at 4:30 today - Waitlisted for Public Health
Waitlisted for SLO, but got into UCLA for pre business economics in state! Soooooo!
I am with you on this… pretty heartless to drag this out. My son is in same boat but he has given up.
My D received an email notifying her that she has a portal update but she cannot get into her portal even by changing password. She is assuming it’s waitlist until she can get in on Monday. LOL.
“Awaiting Decision” For Mechanical Engineering; practically a rejection it seems. I have a 4.192 CSU GPA, a 4.55 UC, 4.32 weighted, Salutatorian of my high school. 16-20 hours of extracirriculars, and 5-10 work hours in the past 36 months. 10 aps, currently 5 5/5s and 2 4/5s. Taking dual enrollment Calc 3 RN after getting a B in dual enrollment Calc 2 last semester. I’m also doing Cinema 107. Basically, 3 college classes and 10 AP classes (3 this year, max I could take in my schedule).
I’m weird, im like an international resident; I’m a resident of California but on a TD visa; I’m a Canadian citizen, no idea if im in the international/in-state bucket or what.
I’m pretty sure im cooked. Oh well.
TD visa puts you into the international bucket. Only citizens and green card holders are classed as domestic.
My brother, who went through this process already 4 years ago, said that he was put in the resident bucket for admissions. I think its looking at the “are you a Californian resident” box for that, unless they’ve changed it so that the visa section overrides that.
Might be instate/resident for tuition purposes, but that’s not the same thing as international vs domestic.
“ International applicants include those who hold U.S. visas as students, exchange visitors, or those in other non-immigrant classifications.”
A TN/TD visa is a non-immigrant visa.
Ahh tragic. My copium is that maybe international students have a seperate pool that takes longer to release, and that there is still hope. Is this the case or am I basically just screwed?
Do you think the few occasional upcoming acceptances between now and when decisions are made would come from wait list people or from the people who haven’t heard anything yet?
The few admits would most likely still come from the current applicant pool and not the waitlist.
I’m so sorry. You have an amazing profile—I hope the right school sees that too.
My daughter got waitlisted for business administration. From out of state.
If you are talking about the 10/11/12 April, yes, it is publicly posted on CalPoly. However, the presentations etc. seem to indicate it is College of Agriculture.
Maybe College of Engg also hosts their presentations on the same days, and their agenda has not yet been posted.
If you download the CalPoly orientation app, there is a New Mustang Guide 2025 that has all of the events for Open House 2025, as well as other info. It’s clear that it’s for the whole school, not just the College of Agriculture. Cal Poly Orientation on the App Store
Waitlisted for CS (4:30 on Friday).
We’ll take that hope, since the rest of Friday was rough. My son got rejected from UCLA, Bowdoin, and Pomona - all while dealing with a flat tire!
What are his stats?
Has anyone heard of anybody getting in after this recent wave?
@Gumbymom Sounds like yesterday’s wave was a mix of waitlists and rejections. Have you seen this in past years or does this year’s rollout seem different?
Last year, there was a mix of waitlists and a few denials. In 2022, the waitlist wave had some admits but majority of waitlists.
Yes, it does vary each year.
