Yesterday Waitlisted Computer Engineering CSU GPA: 3.9
I found all the CSUs seem to do this. My student was rejected from SDSU but not until weeks after most other students had been accepted or waitlisted. Same general scenario with SJSU, except he was admitted there but not until weeks after others had been accepted, and CPP where again, weeks after most had their decisions he received an offer for an alternate major.

How does â5 years of (recommended) Englishâ work? I get the five years of math-- my D26 will take a DE stats class in the summer to obtain five years of math-- but I donât hear of many students taking an additional English class in the summer. Can 8th grade be counted, or something?
Yes some students will take a DE/CC course over the summer or during the school year, to get the 5th year of English or will double up with 2 HS English classes. It is not a do or die situation since these recommendations are even higher than the UC recommendations. Maximizing the rigor and the number of years when possible are good guidelines to follow within reason.
Only Middle school Math and Foreign Language will count toward the recommended years of classes. Middle school English does not count.
Our D25 who was admitted took a journalism elective that counted for A-G English credit. Check your childâs schoolâs UC approved classes under English to see if there are any electives.
Does anyone know if a dual enrollment into a business class (in the summer prior to 12th grade) be counted in the Cal Poly GPA?
The class was taken at a community college and appears on its transcripts, and not the HS transcript.
Thank you,
Itâs really upsetting⊠my son is in a similar situation, (has strong GPA also). So I completely understand where youâre coming from.
Iâm disgusted with this entire process⊠I mean why should CA residents be forced to leave the state and pay out of state tuition, while we pay so much taxes in state.
Is the class CSU transferable? You can check on assist.org and if it is CSU transferable, then it would be counted in the SLO GPA calculation.
Do you also have the link for which classes from Ca schools count for UC, CSU? Thank you in advance.
You mean HS classes or college classes?
The CA HS A-G course list is found here: University of California A-G Course List
Assist.org would have the CSU/UC transferable college course listed.
YES!! Thats it!! Thank you so much!
DS still waiting for decision but he does have a shaded link in his student info on portal that says âAccept Admissionâ and then in small print under it says:
âThis feature is currently not available to you.
Check your Application Status for any updates. If you have further questions, please reach out through email at admissions@calpoly.edu, text at 805-865-7177, or call at 805-756-2311 (available from 12-5 p.m. PT, Monday through Friday) to contact the Admissions Office.â
Could this still mean an acceptance could be coming or do all, waitlisted and rejections see this too in their portal? Thank you
I created my username when my older S23 went through this 2 years ago, so I thought I should reply to you
Unfortunately it is always there.
It is CSU transferrable
Thx.
My D was accepted (business admin major) with only 4 years of English. Her high school doesnât have any English electives so itâs not possible to get the 5 years without trying to take a cc class and her high school counselor said most kids that get in from her school only have 4 years of English as a result.
