Curious which school he chose? My daughter is deciding between UW and CP.
I agree with the interest thing. Itās so hard on the csu application to make anyone stand out. They all seem to have basically the same GPA, take mostly the same AP classes and have the same high school rigor.
D25 had her heart set on Cal Poly so she made sure she met all their requirements, 5th year of English and Math etc. She also tried to adapt the classes for her desired major child development. So for her fifth year of English at CC she didnāt take ENG 1A or something general, she took childrenās literature. Cal Poly wants two years of art so one of her was creative art expression in childhood. She also used assist to see what classes they wanted their transfer students to have in her major and took the two that were available to her. Of the 12 DE classes she took, 7 could be connected to her major.
It worked and she got in, but all those classes would have helped her no matter what school she ended up in.
My daughter was admitted for Architecture last year, but ultimately chose a different school. She took 3 CC architecture classes over the course of HS. Iām sure it helped her stand out on all of her applications and helped her solidify her choice to select it as her major in the first place.
Where did she end up for architecture?
Heās a sophomore at CP, studying architecture. (He chose CP over UW primarily because CP is a 5 year degree and UW is 4 years and would require an additional masters to get licensed.)
Berkeley. They are a lot more flexible and open-ended with career outcomes, because itās a BA, not a B.Arch, which she ultimately decided is what she wanted. Sheās having a great experience in the College of Environmental Design. SLO would have been amazing tooājust a different path.
Thank you! Yes, there are so many different paths and options. Mine had several options but will be studying architecture (B.Arch.) in the fall at U of O.
So for those of us still awaiting decision, will Cal Poly wait until tomorrow to complete their decisions? Anyone know if they actually wait and let everyone know on 1 April? I assume we wonāt hear anything todayā¦
The latest that SLO has notified applicants of their Decisions was March 30 in the last 3 years so I would say either today or tomorrow.
Do they ever release decision waves on weekends/holidays, like today?
Are you an international as well? Iām intl MechE and still have āAwaiting Decision,ā seems like everyone else has gotten accepted/waitlisted/rejected.
Yep. Mech e international also. Iāve been anxiously waiting for just about 20 days. Iām terrified lol
Is all of Cal Poly Slo closed today? For some holiday?
Yes, they are closed
Yes campus is observing Ceasar Chavez Day. Spring quarter starts tomorrow.
So for those of us still awaiting decision, will they finally let us know at the last possible minute of 1 Apr?
I hope so. Iām so nervous I might throw up..
Saw a parent on Reddit saying their student got an acceptance today (Industrial Engineering)
Thatās interesting. I didnāt hear anyone saying they received anything yesterday and the school was closed.
