I am a transfer student on the waitlist. On their website, it says waitlisted freshman are still guaranteed housing. Do you know if that is true for transfers as well?

SLO Website states regular Transfers are not guaranteed housing so I would assume the same goes for waitlisted transfers.

Thanks for the update. >40% admission from the waitlist is so different from two prior years. Do you know what was different in 2024 cycle? For example, did they have an unusually low yield rate? How does that affect the admit rate of this year’s waitlisted students?

Yield for 2024 Freshman was slightly lower at 25% vs 28% the previous year but not that significant. The admit rate off this years waitlist will be affected by the yield rate for this year since they are targeting a Freshman class of around 5500 based on the SLO Target Projections which is higher than the actual enrolled 5276 Freshman class for 2024.

It’s good to hear that they are increasing the size of the freshman class. Do you know if they are also increasing the freshman class size for business major? We are still trying to figure out the probability of our daughter getting pulled off of waitlist. In particular, we are wondering if they accepted more students this year since they had to tap deep into waitlist last year, which will decrease the proportion of waitlisted students to be accepted.

Yes, they may consider your alternate major when admitting off the waitlist.

Hi everyone - we had an email offering redirection to 2 CSU campuses, which we have completed - my understanding is that it does not impact your waitlist status. Anyone know how long they will take to respond to the new applications? Hopefully soon as April is ticking by quickly

Correct that redirection does not affect your waitlist status.

Redirection: Once the campus receives your application, they will contact you via email within 5-7 business days with instructions on what to do next.

I have not heard anything. My understanding is that notifications will not trickle in until the beginning of May at the earliest.

There is a CalPoly SLO, mechanical engineering, waitlist kid who’s about to have a very good day.
After a couple weeks of indecision my daughter finally pulled the trigger and committed to UCSB.
