CAL POLY SLO TRANSFER STUDENTS 2019-2020

You’re too kind! I appreciate the vote of confidence! :slight_smile:

dude i go to De Anza too and I haven’t heard anything back yet lol :confused:

Hi, I was just curious for last year when you heard back about your waitlist position? I just am trying to figure out if I should opt out or not
@lauriebell

It says freshmen find out by May 15th and transfers by july 15th… do we actually wait THAT long.

@naruthejatt I also go to DAC and have heard zilch lol

I heard a whopping 2 days before the deadline… July 13th. It was a brutal wait. :frowning:

Although, they were simply letting me know no spots were available to me, so there could be a chance of hearing back earlier if you do end up getting off the waitlist to fill a spot.

@Ericabr1

@90smix @naruthejatt Wow, De Anza/Foothill here too. But Foothill ftw.

I already have an award letter in my Cal Poly portal, does any body else have this?

I am freaking out because it is not the amount that I was expecting…

Still pretty shocked about being waitlisted… waitlisted yesterday for psych. 3.9 GPA, all major requirements done, Golden 4 completed, 8+ hours of volunteering a week, had two jobs, one as a statistics tutor at my CC. I tried calling to see if I was missing anything and the guy I spoke to said informed me that the avg gpa for the liberal sciences college was a 3.41…really not understanding how I didn’t get accepted.

I was waitlisted for psych with 3.9 gpa and pretty solid application. And someone else was also waitlisted I think w/ 3.92 gpa. I know pretty shocking :frowning: and if the avg is 3.4 why we didn’t get in???

Has anyone received the email with the “survey” we are supposed to complete if we are waitlisted?

@Rachel17 right?! That’s what I don’t understand. The guy on the phone that I spoke with said that why people with lower GPA’s get in is because they complete all the major requirements…but what about when you have a higher GPA AND complete all the req’s?? Doesn’t seem right.

@julesen16 what major requirements he is talking about? I have like100 units under my belt including my major required and desired classes. And I agree, what is the point of a high GPA?? I always feel that the Gpa reflects cometment, dedication and high standards more than anything else. I have two classes in process now, and that not supposed to count against the application, according to every academic adviser I spoke to. It is very strange!

@KatieMc16 I didn’t get the email as well yet.

@Rachel17 He was referring to the required courses for the psych major that can be found under the transfer requirements page on CP’s website, as well as assist.org But I couldn’t agree more, I have all of the requirements and my college counselors/advisers are all baffled.

@julesen16 yes got you, and I have covered all those classes and like I said couple including a desired one is in process and be done in couple months. So that section is covered. Do you still have a class in process? I mean it is very normal practice and no advisor said it should be a problem at all having a class in progress while transferring, the opposite they said many students leave the hard classes to their final term as calpoly only check for passing grade for that.

Ive heard slo is notorious for waitlisting overqualified students which is weird because honestly as a CSU they dont have much other criteria besides grades so I don’t really know how they do admissions.

I have all desired, required, igetc, pre reqs (everything cal poly and AAT wants) even extra science like chem and anatomy, and I was waitlisted with a 3.93 as well for psych. I also work 10+ hours related to major, volunteer, and play a sport where I have a leadership role. There’s only around 25 open spots if it’s like last year so I just think its extremely competitive. Hopefully people choose to go to UC’s and we can get off the waitlist. Trying to stay positive but fearing the worst.

An admission officer from UC Davis came to my high school and IIRC I heard that for competitive UCs/CSUs sometimes they just have to pick randomly, like if there’s 30 equally competitive applicants they’ll just randomly pick 5 (I could be wrong but that’s what I remember)
