Not to sound this way but Iām surprised that I was not at least waitlisted. I understand that there were a record number of applicants this year which makes things more difficult and competitive. Congratulations to all that were accepted. Cal Poly Pomona accepted me so I might just be heading there.
3.8 Business, not selected. ā ā ā ā this school and ā ā ā ā the admissions team. Not a cool April fools prank you guys

Yeah⦠idek what I couldāve done at this point to get accepted.
One of many factors are how many prerequisites that are in-progress.
Cal Poly has to gamble on how well you might do in the remaining prerequisites since theyāre not completed when offering a decision.
Iām taking 4 rn. But Iāve taken 4 pre-req classes in other semesters as well.
what are the chances someone gets taken off the waitlist? iām trying to think about the pros and cons of waiting and staying or committing to fresno. obviously i DONT want to go to fresno but beggars canāt be choosers and itās a waste of time for me to take a third year at cuesta
Chances are not the greatest, but it does happen.
2022 had 2 people accepted from the Waitlist. But those are only the ones we know about.
There could have been many more that just never posted.
You can commit to another college, then commit to Cal Poly if youāre selected off the waitlist. Cal Poly has until 11:59 PM on July 15 to accept anyone from the waitlist.
Thatās what I figured. Is there anything I can do besides waiting? I really canāt decide what to do hear
Youāre in that in-between phase. You werenāt rejected so thereās nothing to appeal.
Youāve got options. It just comes down to personal choice of what works for you.
#1 - You can choose not to go to Fresno or any other college, then apply to Cal Poly next year. Multiple people on this thread got waitlisted last year & accepted this year.
#2 - I donāt know where you live but youāll certainly have a greater chance if you attend Cuesta or Hancock. Those are the āFeederā schools for Cal Poly, where they take most of the Transfers from.
#3 - You can attend Fresno State. You may not be thrilled now, but once youāre attending, youāll adapt.
#4 - Finally, you can also make plans for Fresno State, then if you get off the Waitlist, you can cancel Fresnoās acceptance & youāll certainly know by July 15.
Remember, the Waitlist for acceptances is the same as trying to register for a class & getting waitlisted. You donāt know what Position # you are, but when people who got accepted start declining Cal Polyās offer & go somewhere else, someone from the Waitlist moves into their spot. Youāll start to notice after May 1st because by that time, the UC decisions have been released & everyone has to tell Cal Poly their decision one way or the other.

I applied out of highschool for computer science with a 4.4 GPA and 34 ACT, waitlisted and didnāt make it in.
I applied after partial community college, rejected (lacking complete prereqs).
I applied last year for ME, golden 4 and prereqs complete but not IGETC, waitlisted and didnāt make it in.
4th times the charm! I didnāt get my acceptance until April 1st at 11:45am - I thought for sure it was another rejection when I didnāt get in in the first wave of acceptances.
Hopefully my stats give a little hope to someone trying to transfer in next year. Proves that if you check literally every other box, you can overcome a low GPA. Good luck everyone!
Congratulations!!! You earned your spot for sure. What perseverance!
Wow, thatās incredible! You truly earned your spot! Iām currently in the position you were in not long ago. Iām attending Cuesta now to complete the required courses. I graduated with the Class of 2024 and had accumulated all the units to apply as a transfer, but unfortunately, I just didnāt have exactly what Cal Poly was looking for at the moment⦠Did you do CSU IGETC Gen Ed pattern or something different ?
Congrats! You have EARNED IT!
Iām a second year at cuesta right now and have 63 units, applied for poly, got waitlisted which means no answer really until july 15th. What did you do in the meantime in between applying for Cal poly? Iām unsure if I want to take a year off or commit to a different 4 year or do a third year at Cuesta for the time being. All I know is that I donāt want leave SLO!!
