College application season is here, and we’re looking for more CC community members to join our Essay Readers!
You don’t need to be an admissions expert, English teacher, or professional editor. If you enjoy a good story, have a knack for asking thoughtful questions, or simply like helping students find their voice, you can be a wonderful essay reader. Quality feedback can be as simple as helping a student further develop an idea or pointing out what resonates with you as a reader.
One of the best parts? There’s no set time commitment. Read an essay when you have time, skip one when you don’t. Even a few thoughtful comments can help a student look at their essay in a completely new way. Essays are shared in a private feedback group and aren’t publicly searchable online. And just to be clear, this isn’t a private editing or essay-writing service. The goal is to help students think, revise, and make their essays their own.
