Anyone heard back yet for finalists?
I beleive they share the semi-finalist first and then the finalist. Correct me if I am wrong
I guess they share semifinalists now and end of June they announce finalists for the interview. Later first or second week of September they will announce scholarship recipients.
We got an email about being a semifinalist. Iâm not sure how many applicants are considered as seminfinalists?
Congrats ! Did anyone else got the semifinalist email? Not sure of the count
We received an email for semi-finalist on 05/28, but Iâm not sure how many semi-finalists are selected.
Based on previous yearsâ threads, finalists are notified directly via phone call and semifinalists receive an email. Unsure if they change that every year.
Seems like semifinalists are like âdeferredâ status of college admissions. But you never know since the selection process is not very transparent.
I was under the impression that finalists would be chosen from the semifinalists.
You may be right. Last year thread, one parent mentioned they received a finalist call directly with no semifinalist notification and another parent who received a semifinalist notification, mentioned no update until they got the final ânot selectedâ. Did anyone receive notification yet?
Selection status varies. Some years the term semifinalist means that you receive an interview. Phone call to finalists. Email to semifinalists saying they didnât win. Some years they have skipped the term. Some years there are notified semi-finalists and only some get interviewed. In many years there is a 50-50 chance of selection with an interview.
Got a âFinalistâ email yesterday. Anyone with an interview experience from older children and can share their experience here?
I was a finalist last year. I did not receive any semi-finalist notification but just got a phone call telling me I was a finalist. I think in the interview they are trying to ensure you hold true to your application. The questions I was asked ranged from broad ( about what I was looking for in a school) to more specific (regarding my interests and hobbies). I feel I was too caught up in giving what I thought was the ârightâ answer when I should have said the most true answer. It would have also helped to treat it more like a conversation than an interrogation. Though I did not ultimately become a CDB Scholar I still ended up getting into the high school I wanted to go to. My advice is to not overthink the process and interview.
