I’m trying to search the forums for St. John’s of Maryland and can’t seem to search for it properly. I can search for other things just fine, but when I search for this school, as its exact name, as St. John’s or just John’s I get no matches. ANy advice?

I am stumped as well, and even tried it without the apostrophe. I will let you know if I ever come up with anything.

Of course, you know that there are numerous threads on the school at http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/forumdisplay.php?f=360.

I have also visited the school so feel free to PM me if you have any questions. It is a neat school and in a class of its own as you know.

Z-Mom, this is an example that unveils a weakness of the CC internal search engine. However, all hope is not lost … there is a reason Google is worth a couple a gadzillion dollars.

I you do not have the Google Toolbar, I’d suggest downloading it. On the toolbar, look next to the Go button, and check the funny character that looks like a key with bug eyes. That button should say “Search only on xxx” XXX being the site you are on. This should be CC.

Now run the search with the various spelling of St John’s. As you fill the Google search box, you should see a number of typical suggestions.

For example, I used St Johns University

<a href=“St Johns university site:talk.collegeconfidential.com - Google Search”>St Johns university site:talk.collegeconfidential.com - Google Search;

The whole thing looks like this <a href=“St Johns university site:talk.collegeconfidential.com - Google Search”>St Johns university site:talk.collegeconfidential.com - Google Search;

and for St Johns College

<a href=“St Johns college site:talk.collegeconfidential.com - Google Search”>St Johns college site:talk.collegeconfidential.com - Google Search;

It is worth looking at the search definition “St+Johns+college” as this gives you a quick idea on how to enter your own criteria with the + sign.

Hope this helps a bit.
