Chance me and Match as a student from NJ [3.7 UW, 1420 SAT, biology or neuroscience]

Thank you

What do you mean stalling ? Update your scores everywhere. It could help merit.

I meant they aren’t releasing decisions.

Also do you mean to send my updated score to my colleges? I sent my previous score of 1420

You’ve got a better score. So if they’ve not yet made decisions, go in their portals and update. If there’s no way to, ask. Maybe it will increase merit. Do it for every school you applied to.

Alright, I will do it tomorrow morning. Thank you.

Every app that hasn’t made a decision. If there’s no portal update, email to inform you got a higher score and ask how to self report.

Got it. That would be TCNJ, Rutgers NB, and Stevens for me. Also any other reaches I apply.

Honestly, I’m reconsidering if I should apply to Princeton. All the people who did REA in our school got rejected and they had better stats then me. I might go for a tier under that, but I will have to do more research.

You have a super reach in mind. You have no idea why they were rejected.

You need to look at NPCs.

Lafayette, F&M, Dickinson are the smart ones but you’ve acted like they’re untouchable to your folks.

Most important is NPC.

Who can meet your cost. That’s more important than selectivity..

But you got a better SAT score - so use it. Expect to get rejected but you took the test - so do the app. But if Dartmouth tells you $40K on the NPC and you can’t afford it, don’t waste your time. So find the cheapest and if it’s in range, that’s the right school. Forget the other kids - you have ZERO idea why they were rejected. If you only want Princeton and it meets what you can pay - then apply to Princeton. If they say no, oh well. If you aren’t interest in, for example, Emory, then why apply?

So find a school you’re interested in and most importantly that hits budget. And then stop “guessing” - you know you’re making a Hail Mary pass - but make it.

Have no specific problem with those universities, it’s just my parents who don’t consider the schools good (idk why they say this).

I’ll run the NPCs thanks

I think you said they cost too much anyway (your parents make $180K if I recall). In the end, if Rutgers is your 4 year floor, you already have a great four year school (assuming you don’t do CC).

So you’re applying to a place that’s cheaper - and that you’d consider superior to Rutgers. That might be no one. If it’s no one, then don’t apply.

But if P is the dream, then that’s where I’d go. Will you get rejected - likely 99% But it won’t be much different odds at Cornell, Brown, wherever.

But if you want to go - you can’t get in if you don’t try. So try. You took the SAT so there was a reason why - I assume to give better odds elsewhere and I’m sure it has.

Yeah, I’m most likely locked for Rutgers, but why not try for Princeton or Brown.

Check the NPCs for both. Princeton is usually more generous with aid than Brown is.

Just submitted my last app- Princeton.

Thanks everyone for the advice given. Truly learned a lot here (everyone gave me a reality check). It was a good idea for me to check this website out.

Is there anyone this thread could be dissolved. I don’t see a delete button from my part.

No. You can’t make a thread disappear. But if you don’t want it to continue
just stop posting on it. It will fade away.

Alright, I was planning on deleting my account anyway

We’d all appreciate an update once you get decisions and decide where you’re going! You can ask the moderators to close the thread in the meantime.

I don’t believe you can delete your account either. If you don’t want to do anything on this forum anymore
just don’t.
