Chance me and Match as a student from NJ [3.7 UW, 1420 SAT, biology or neuroscience]

What is this: “Do you have the graded paper needed with teacher comments ?”

Sorry for not understanding, but do you mean if my counselor took any notes, so no, she didn’t. Also, I am considering a few other schools, but yeah, unless I get a 1500 +, I’m not getting Princeton. I guess I’ll see this Friday.

Thank you for the advice, I’m still struggling to find time to write my supplements and my essays(I only finished personal, but still have a lot left). Idk if I can do all this by November, but I’ll try :). At the very least, I will do NJIT and Rutgers.

To apply to Princeton, you need to provide-

  1. Graded Written Paper. A graded written paper is required, preferably in the subjects of English or history.

Typically, the Honors College/program application has a later deadline (often, Dec1 ).
For Rutgers, all you have to do is check a box (to indicate you intend to answer the Honors question by Dec1 but if you don’t end up writing that essay, no harm no foul). You may also check the Honors box to indicate you’d like to be under consideration. Then you’ll have a month to complete the n ct step (which isn’t as difficult as completing the whole application).
That’s why I listed Rutgers NJIT TCNJ Rowan and SUNYs as priorities (Nov1-3 deadlines).
Yes it’s a lot to do but fortunately once your CommonApp essay is done, you don’t have to do much more.
Two more days and it’s the weekend :flexed_biceps::clap:

Update: still working on it. I procrastinated a lot and had a lot of school work :sob:. I’m still struggling to write my essay, though. Hopefully, I make progress tomorrow

Did you see the Princeton requirements - graded paper?

Take your time on the essay - get people to review, etc.

Do you have that?

It’s the weekend: sleep/rest+work on essays.

There are people on this forum who can review your draft. Look for that section of the website.

In the coming week, complete your application for Rowan as a practice application: After you’ve sent it, you’ll notice lots of little things you did wrong. Correct them for the next application.

Monday’s the day “SUNY free apps” start. Are you applying through Commonapp or through the SUNY app?

Yep, have the graded paper, but I don’t think I’m applying. I got a 1440 on my recent SAT, so there’s no reason to waste 75 dollars on applying there

I’m applying everything through Common App

That’s wise wrt Princeton. :heart::flexed_biceps:
Don’t waste your time on something impossible.
Do dedicate time to ensure lots of good opportunities.
Once the key things are done, everything is cherry on the cake.

If you manage to complete SUNYs+ the 4 from NJ (they should be similar) by Nov 1, do you want us to look into universities that have ED deadlines on Nov15?
Because… Believe it or not.. you’re not alone in being overwhelmed by the Nov1 date and some excellent colleges figured they could take advantage of that

Yeah, that would be nice! Thank you guys a lot, never expected so much help for a clueless student :sob:

You got this :flexed_biceps:
So, get those NJ and SUNY apps done, and Nov1 we can look into any ED university that’d be affordable and that you’d like more than these.

Can you get a fee waiver? If you really, truly want to go - it’s not a waste.

And in the grand scheme of what you’ll spend on college, what’s $75.

Are you getting in - I am 99.5% confident you are not. However, I’m 100% confident you are not if you don’t try.

So if you really want it…maybe when your other apps are completed if you have time.

Or you can reach for others like Lafayette or F&M or Dickinson (target)- reasonable reaches. I think you wanted to stay close.

Either way, it’s all good - you’re getting the important ones done!!

I might just go test optional maybe. Ik in the future Princeton will be test required, but why not lol.

Have you looked at Lafayette. It’s not far at all, meets need (run the NPC), is extremely well regarded, and while I wouldn’t expect an acceptance, one wouldn’t surprise me.

It’s a much better “reach” in that sense.

Princeton is a lot of work so better tackle it during Winter Break.

For now, the focus must be on finishing a draft of your essay and completing the NJ&SUNY apps.

Lafayette would be a great reach and its ED deadline is Nov 15.
Meaning once you’ve got all your bases covered with reaches/targets/safeties through SUNYs+NJ, you have two weeks to explore their website, run the NPC, and see if you like it enough you’d like it better than SUNY Bing or Rutgers if you lucked out and got in. Compared to these two, you’d have a more personalized education, more resources at your disposal, ability to change majors easily, support for internships and study abroad - and they are quite generous with financial aid. Compared to Rutgers you wouldn’t have to deal with the split campus and compare to Bing you’d be closer to home and closer to big cities.
