You don’t really know, and it may vary from one college to another.
However, merit scholarships exist to attract high end students to the college when those high end students are comparing that college’s offer to those of other colleges. Where the merit scholarships are not automatically given for stats or applying ED, does the college really have any incentive to offer them to ED admits who will attend no matter what?
