Chances to top schools

Hi guys.

I am a 20 year old male student, studying engineering in the University of Iceland (in Iceland high school ends when you are 19, not 18). In high school I was a very average student, focusing more on my extra curriculum activities and working rather than studying. I’ve been studying at the university for a year now, and I’ve gotten my act together focusing more on my education and have actually been getting straight “A”'s in everything. I can’t describe my scores any more accurately because i havent taken the American SAT’s or TOEFL. I don’t need any financial aid and i would pay full tuition into the school.

My question is, given that i keep up the good work until i finish the undergraduate degree, what is my chance as an international student getting into the top colleges in USA as a graduate student? What top schools is the most likelyhood of getting into? As I understand it, the chances vary differently between schools for international students as well as people who pay full tuition?

Thanks in advance!

For grad school the chances for internationals who can pay full tuition and those who can’t don’t differ as much as for undergraduate school. That’s because most grad schools are part of a university and thus need Teaching Assistants and Research Fellows and for most positions it doesn’t matter if they are filled by internationals or a US citizens.
