Is anyone watching the TV coverage of the hoped-for rescue? Other than me, I mean?

I am keeping my fingers crossed that all the miners can be pulled up safely, and soon. What a horrific situation.

CNN has a telecast.

Who has the best coverage?

I’ve been switching around between Fox and CNN. I’m on pins and needles.

Do you all remember baby Jessica and the well?

Who has the best coverage?

Well, I can tell you that it was NOT Fox. Bill O’Reilly was able to do most of his “usual” show, only switching over to the mine rescue toward the end of his gig. CNN, on the other hand, has been covering it non-stop for a while now… Fox is currently covering it non-top, but I was surprised that they didn’t cover it non-stop sooner.

I don’t watch O’Reilly, so I wouldn’t know. But it’s been on Fox now since 9:00. I have a crush on Shep Smith. Don’t tell my husband.

This is interesting:

[Driller from Denver becomes Chile mine rescue hero - Yahoo! News](http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20101009/ap_on_bi_ge/lt_chile_mine_collapse_americans)

I guess Larry King gets to do his thing also, similar to Bill O. on Fox, because his show is on now and he’s interviewing Jesse “The Body” Ventura…

I was impressed that the miners were said to be arguing over the order. They all wanted everyone else to have a chance at rescue first.

I know a lot of men who work in inherently dangerous jobs, and nearly all of them are made of this kind of stuff.

I am not able to watch (no cable in dorm room).

I’ve been trying to follow on CNN.com but so far not that helpful (sketchy internet).

It’s going to be a long night. Sending the rescuers and the miners best wishes and godspeed!

rge, it looks like there’s a couple of live blogs.

The news is reporting that there’s a problem. Oh my God. I’m praying. I hope they get out of there safely. I’ve been hearing about blood clots and such. My heart is in my throat.

Wait wait, what’s up?

And thanks for the link.

Apparently there was some problem with the communication system, since resolved.

The first of two volunteers is preparing to descend to the miners. I am awestruck by the courage that would allow someone to do that.

I am so claustrophobic, I can’t imagine what it would be like to go down that mine shaft willingly, or wait patiently for months for a rescue in such trapped quarters.

So scary.

I am claustrophobic too…won’t even visit the Disney-built mines. Two steps and I’m out of there. I don’t know how some people do these jobs that involve being trapped — in mines, in submarines, in tunnels…I respect that, but no way would I be able to do it.

I was just listening to some of the possible pitfalls. God bless the families. I really think I would have to be tranquilized for the next 36 hours if my family member were involved.

So… if anyone is on CNN.com, they have a rescue count and a timer. I don’t know if it’s anywhere else: [CNN.com - Breaking News, U.S., World, Weather, Entertainment & Video News](http://www.cnn.com/)

I think I might be able to go grab a lounge TV now since the Wings game is over.

The first miner reached the surface! (He lost the draw.:))

Nice link on the driller zoose. Thanks.
