Chinese Thread

I’m in China right now and I can’t access sites like facebook and livejournal for some reason. Is anyone else having this problem?

When I was in China, I was able to get to Xanga. But that probably doesn’t help you any.

P.S. I’ve been living in the states for 10 years, and we’re just now getting our Greencard.

And out of curiousity, is anyone here from ChengDu? Or even SiChuan in general. I miss home. (And the food. Yummm.)

Holy shiz. I feel inadequate at my Chinese, and had to look up so many words…

How do those of you in the States keep up with the language???

Today I start my very roundabout way to China lol. I went from NJ -> NYC -> Syracuse -> Ottawa. Now I am going from Ottawa -> Toronto -> Chicago -> Champaign -> Chicago O’Hare -> Shanghai lol

I’m From Chengdu!!!`

Wow, Lixuelai, that’s quite a trip in North America to get to Asia. But I’m extremely jealous of you because I wanna go too.

And I’m also pretty proud that I can read the 5 characters utoyxc posted. >.< Sad life that I lead, no? ;P

I’ve applied a summer homestaying programme organized by our school and PeopleLink jointly and I confided my aunt in America.

So I was DENIED at the consulate!!!

I was So SILLY!!!

mr. post 2888
hehe, after watering so many MARS POSTS in CUUS, Mr. utoyxc has changed his battlefield. haha.

to wudan, here’s an excerpt from an article about lang xianping

hey i was in shanghai from the 5th to the 7th

i m in changsha now tho

but i ma go back to shanghai later, like, late this month till august

too bad no legit wares means no bnet

At O’Hare atm and cant find a hotel room for a reasonable amount of money lol ($400 a night, no thanks).

go to big five and buy a sleeping bag

Hey, what can I do that will benefit my furthur U.S. college application if I stay in China?

No, not something like volunteering, finding a job, there should be something new!

if you are accepted to a us college, i think you can ask them to let you defer for a year. some schools let new students to enroll in the spring which means you defer one semester.
you can use this deferral year to work as to build up your resume. Work at a big town with u.s. conulate or embassy so you can apply for visa right away. Recall that high school is to build up the college app, and college is to build up the resume. A lot of chinese students in america goes back to work at Fortune 500 firms’ offices in china during first one or two summers in college. It’s easier to find a competitive post in china than in u.s. since a lot of people back home have high expectation on us. Internationals are facing a lot of chanllenges in landing a good internship in america.
you can also use this year to do whatever you find joyful, just remember to apply for visa soon as you are eligible to apply again.

Well, I’m just a sophomore student in a high school in Shenzhen and next semester I’m going to be junior.

To tangsdaily :What does “Work at a big town with u.s. conulate or embassy so you can apply for visa right away” mean?

Shanghai is so chaotic…

that kid is already in shenzhen, an hour from guangzhou. you don’t have to have to ride a train for days or catch a flight to those visa interviews.

Now, I think I understand inc’s point better. Inc wants to do something in China that can place more advantages on his u.s. college app. Well, there are a lot of options. since he doesn’t want to volunteer or work, he can embark a voyage to the wild, to the undiscovered, and write his stories to popular press. Or conduct some research under some renowned professor’s supervise. Or compete for some prize, super feme voice.

super feme voice… lol
