<p>aquareve: CalTech wants research. They have no quips about rejecting people with perfect scores and long resumes. My father worked in the admission office when he was a postdoc there and he did international admissions (you are a citizen though). I thought of applying for Caltech but was adviced not to since frankly Im not too bright 
even though I do have some job experience helping out a friend of my dad’s at the Institute of Advanced Study…call it an internship if you wish lol. Then I decided to do economics at UChicago and then just a few weeks before the acceptance deadline I changed my mind to do a hard science lol so I went for UIUC Compsci. I applied to Carnegie Mellon but they only gave me biology -.-"</p>

I’m quite perplexed about the difference between the term college and university in the US. What is the difference between the top national universities and the top liberal arts colleges?</p>
<p>Lol I was reading the news when I came across this article on the parliamentary elections in Japan. Shinzo Abe was elected the new Prime Minister so I said there will be “fun” in Asia since Abe is twice the hawk that Koizumi was lol. Anyway yeah it was kinda random :P</p>
<p>college is the undergrad, most universities have colleges, that when rank are consider together with their research, grad, and doc programs</p>
<p>so its somewhat like liberal arts colleges cant compete at all when it comes to rankings of things they dont offer, but the top liberal arts skools have no problem attracting and creating successful ppl, so obviously, they are something to be considered</p>
