And Shail619 i will most definitly be going to Lafayette got very decent aid package. hope to see you there then ,eh.

cool…see u there my friend…gonna rock there… I have got my interview at the end of this month.so can’t wait to hear those few words from the consular!!!

congrats fsa1. guys, what are the documents that we can get ready before getting the I-20. I am thinking of submitting the Visa application the very next day I recieve my I-20. is that possible? Shailesh, what all documents have u made ready? please list them here for me :)

@ TOUSin007

You plan to submit your visa app the next day u receive the I20…well believe it or not I had submitted my Visa application only a few hours later after receiving my I20 through FedEx…

So goes the list of documents one would ideally want before having to face the interview (although much has been already said on this on earlier posts)

DS-156 form (the main visa app form)

DS-157 form

DS-158 form

Photocopies of I20, passport, citizenship (always good to have originals as well)

CASH (around 14K of them… if ur colleges hasn’t paid your SEVIS fees that is)

Relationship certificate in English

No objection letter ( I wonder if it is required…but I will certainly make it)

Police Report (Again something that is not required as such but I guess I will make it just for the sake of making it)

Bank statement (indicating at least 6 months of transaction)

Asset Evaluation certificate ( it isn’t obligatory but it would be helpful in showing that u have reasons for coming back)

Statement from the employer (if the money u are going to pay to the college is coming from the salary from the job

Certificate of Finances form ( don’t know exactly where it is used but since the embassy has kept it as a requirement, it’s good to have with you…btw my college had sent the photocopy of the verified Certificate of finances along with the I20)

Trancripts, test results, examination reults…infact… just anything that might help to prove the fact that u are a “serious” student…or have been a serious student in the past

IMPORTANT 2" by 2" non digitized photograph taken ina white background that too borderless

I will add if I can remember anything more… :)

ALl th best!!

thanks. so it is possible that we take a date for the interview as soon as we receive the I-20 and then get things ready in that period? and which one is the asset evaluation certificate? the one that the nagarpalika does or the one that the engineer does? another thing, what if the college doesn’t send us the Certificate of Finances form with the I-20 like u said. Should we fill it up again and show it during the visa interview?

well it depends on the place u take the interview date from…I mean I took it from my hometown (and not the capital) and I got the date after 17 days …so in my case I had enuf time to prepare all the stuffs…whereas …ppl from the capital are getting the dates after 5 days…so depends…where u are based…so if common sense were to prevail…better make everything ready before applying…

and regarding the CoF…well my college had sent me the photocpy of the CoF which had the signature of the college official in it…for that one…do consult your respective college go get more information…

Don’t worry much…things aren’t that complicated hehe :)

Oh…I forgot…regarding that asset evluation…initially it is done by your respective VDC or the Municipality…then after u have that one…U aslo have the choice of verifying with the Chartered Accountant (although I did make that one too…but I think that is anything but useful)…so it’s your choice…

thanks shailesh. but is CoF been mentioned as a requirement by the embassy as you’re saying? ani we cannot make the no objection letter unless we have the I-20, isn’t it? so will you tell me what are the things necessary when submitting the Visa application? I am sorry if I am asking too many questions but my only source of information is the internet. hope u understand

you are panicing i think. CoF is not required in any case. It is only for college purpose. Make a no objection letter though.

well CoF could be used to prove that ur father (or whoever is your chief sponser) is ready to finance your education…I too am not sure if the embassy ppl infact look for it…I just mentioned it for the sake of being in the safe side  …(although I 20 does include a part of the CoF)…so just chill and I would suggest you to make everything (yes everything) to have no uncertainities what so ever…just be on the safe side…

so have everyone started receiving their I20’s…(and started applying as well)…best of Luck to everyone  For ppl will lil bit of aid…I guess the embassy stuffs are mere paperworks…

yeh…thanks a ton shailesh. you truly deserve credit for all success of this thread :)

:) I am flattered to say the least!!! :)

:d:d:d:d:d:d

nope… did not work again…may be this :P

why???

hehe…let me see if mine works  :frowning:   :stuck_out_tongue: :o
