Class of 2011 from Nepal...lets discuss here

hey, are u not supposed to show that u have ur sister or brother there in US?? i mean there r people sayin that showin ur siblings might jeopardise ur possibility of gettin visa…while on the other hand US embassy detest fake doccuments…so those of u who have their brothers or sisters there in US what r u thinking of doing?

It’s better getting rejected coz U have ur siblings there in the US rather than getting rejected for providing some fake data!!! (although the former doesn’t make much sense to me)

sibling in US is not an issue if they are staying legally. btw, if ur Sibling who is in US is going to finance your US education than you have to be quite careful.

I don’t think having our siblings in the US would be a problem, isn’t it? More so when they are with F1 status. but do we have to mention our siblings name in the relationship certificate…I don’t know, but an officer at municipality was telling me that we cud just make a letter which would prove that my father is my father and I am his son…hehe …what did u guys do?

so where is everyone?

I am right here…waiting for a reply to my question :)

Posting after a long time.
Good luck to those wha are satarting a new "life " in US.

don know what to do in these 15 months.

Taking a Big Big risk

To buddhaforever,
If you are to mention one and most prominent distinction between americans (or western people) and nepalese, what would that be?
I’m asking u because u are alredy on US

hey , can someone help me answer these questions from the visa forms? Preferably someone who has already filled his/her own.
1.national identification number: is this our nagarikta no.?
2. Name and address of present employer or school? Since we are not attending school at the moment, should we write the name of our previous college?
3. At what address will you stay in the U.S.? Is it the college address?
4. List at least two contacts in applicants country of residence(not relatives)
who would they be?
Thank you so much!

nepali69,

in my college here, if you go to the bathroom you will read a warning that says, “No Sex in the Bathroom”.

That should say all.

Yeah that’s a thing i’ve noticed too
Actually, I need this thing for my college application essay, so mentioning such thing about the americans when the reader him/herself is an american is a total risk.

I wanted a distinction in social life or moral values so that I could mention how I was different from those people (It’s an essay about diversity)

1.national identification number: is this our nagarikta no.?
What else can it be?

Name and address of present employer or school? Since we are not attending school at the moment, should we write the name of our previous college?
i guess so.

At what address will you stay in the U.S.? Is it the college address?
Seriously, I don’t know where will you be staying. You should know it. So, just write where you will be staying. Most possibly, your campus address.

List at least two contacts in applicants country of residence(not relatives)
Looks pretty self-explanatory to me. Ah!! this could be an answer to another question here. We, Nepali, see all we know as relatives. For Americans, people in the immediate family are only relatives. If I remember correctly, I wrote one of my neighbors name, and the other one was my friend.

Your questions made me remember my filling of forms last year, not just visa but all application forms, and wondering about similar questions.

thanx a lot

I am asking this again coz nobody bothered to answer it before :(… do we need to mention our siblings information in the relationship certificate? or we just need to show our relationship with our sponsor (father in most of the cases)?

and someone was saying that we can get the no objection letter without the I-20…how true is that??. Thanks.

and I think shailesh has his interview pretty soon now…so best of luck :)

@ ToUSin007

Yes…we don’t need any I20 to get the No Objection letter…at least I didn’t need it…Infact…they don’t have any stipulation of I20 to get the NOL…sounds strange but true…

Thanks a lot mate!!! Can’t wait for that moment :)

In my opinion, only documenting relation to your parents is fine. The reason to document relation certificate is to show that you have strong ties to your home country. Actually, citizenship and passport should have documented family relationship, but by showing the custom-made relationship certificate, we are making it easy for the visa-officer.

By the way, where are you heading?

Believe me, your +2 or A levels result is the most important factor, then your scholarship/financial aid. Others come into play should these be weak.

The other factors could be good amount of property you will inherit, family responsibility (only child, parent(s) having chronic disease), how you respond to the interview questions etc.

Good Luck!

yes. don’t be nervous. :d

thanks shailesh and intl_transfer.

@ buddhaforever: don’t worry. nervousness has been a good friend in every major decision in life :)

Hi. I am new here. I’ve got into a college (not so famous) with pretty handsome aid. I asked the college if they allow me to live off campus (and they did) because that way I will have to pay nothing to the college. My uncle lives very near to the college campus and I am planning to go there couple of weeks before the orientation and look around for a apartment. and this was what I was thinking of telling the Visa ppl. But while filling up the Visa application form today, I see that we need to answer this question , At what address will you stay in the US? I know it’s the college address for us students but what would someone do if he was to live off campus? I cannot make a rental agreement unless I go there. do the Visa ppl require proof? I mean I am not thinking about lying anything. but is it necessary to provide them with legal papers? pls suggest me. has anyone else here been through such situation? I am applying all by myself so let me know if I can find more information somewhere else or ask someone for help. Thanks
