Class of 2011 from Nepal...lets discuss here

well they aren’t required for your visa interview for sure… rest assured…

i second…

i got my visa yesterday… and these were the only things i took:

 1. Passport, I20, SEVIS
 2. Test scores, SLC and A levels result, Transcript
 3. Bankstatement

according to your own situation you might need some more supporting documents. but , such supporting documents are not must until you have the need to show it.
police report, no objection letter, citizenship translation, etc are not needed at all for visa.

a person should get visa with only I20 if his I20 shows he is academically qualified(is in a good college) and is getting scholarship/financial aid.

for those with financial aid, about the property and bank balance, we should be able to show that we can pay for college. we don’t need to show huge property. i didn’t show property evaluation. and even my bankstatement was just 2000.

what are needed for visa are self-evident from the name of the visa.

F-1 Non-working Non-immigrant Student VISA

so, you just have to show you are qualified for this i.e. you will be a non-working non-immigrant student

for this you have to show following things:-

 1. you need to have I20 from an accredited US educational institution. go to USEF and check if your college/university is accredited or not.
 2. you need to show that you are academically qualified so that they can be sure you will study there. (Academic certificates and Test scores)
 3. you need to show that you are able to pay so that they can be sure that you will not have to work there (bank statement, income statement, property evaluation if required)
 4. you need to show your intent of being a non-immigrant. just say that you will return.

these are the basic requirements. everything else depends on your individual case. but, a person who has no problem in the above mentioned documents should not take any other documents (except passport and SEVIS)

Yeah…I think we had shed light this before as well…the remaining documents are meant “just for fun” right 6126? :)

congrats Sailesh and thanks as well. your posts were certainly a confidence booster for me :)

will someone tell me how to make the no objection letter from the Ministry. What are the things that we need to bring with us at the Ministry? and do we get it the same day or they ask us to come back after few days? thanks

to make your NO OBJECTION LETTER…u will need

Rs. 650

Certified copy of the citizenship certificate

Certified copy of your academic qualification certificate

The documents are supposed to be certified by the governmental section officer. You could instead take just the photocopies with the originals

As far as I remember…these are the things u will need to make th NOL…

thanks shailesh. yu’re so quick with replies :)

thanks mate…all my pleasure :D

I haven’t yet applied for the visa. when I attended the Visa info session at USEF, the consular staff said that we don’t have to wait for weeks like it used to before and we get to meet them within one week of the submission of our application. how true is that?

in my time (2006) it depended on how much rush there was in the consuar section.

yeah…that’s true!!!

so anybody else got the Visa??

what is happening ppl?

I gave SAT II in december.
My scores were
Physics 770
math (LeveII) 770
Chemistry 770
I was in pressure of writing essays, gave SAT the earlier month …
so i couldn’t quite prepare for the sat II tests.
My SAT score (highest) is 1490(of 1600).
Because I am having a break now, I have time to study for SAT II.

What do yiu guys suggest?
Should i give the subject tests again?
or because my SAT II scores are above average are they enough?

shailesh 6129 mentioned earlier that only one school offers APs in Nepal?
Which is the school?
How much does it cost and how do we register?

I think it’s Lincoln and it costs around 85 dollars.

nepali69, your SAT II scores are great. according to admission officers at MIT, anything above 750 are taken as the same thing. and 770 is not a bad score at all. since you are seeing some other guys getting 800, i can understand the temptation to get the perfect score.but it is not of much worth…however, you have time and if you just want to boost your self confidence, there is no harm in doing it. but i would not suggest it.

Perfect score in SAT doesn’t mean much. people don’t get good colleges just because of SATs. so, focus on other things. utilize your free time doing some worthwhile things which will make your application look well-rounded. take this time to work on your essays as well.

btw, it is really amazing that being unprepared you got SAT scores of 770. and it is surprising that you think it is not enough.
