thankss for the correction…but i had already edited it when i saw it displayed…i never forget the web addresses of my dream colleges. this was an exception.

omg! this thread is on its way to catch up with the Chinese thread and the TiT. so many pages added in such a few days time!
abt the transition thing mentioned by shail619, i have heard abt ppl in past years going to harvard university from rato b and good ones from stx too. it all depends on the students, their knowledge of the application process and their ability most importantly. i think the one area a school can impact on a students chance of getting into a good university is its facilities of extra activities, the reason why i am sad i attended the +2 i attended becoz it lacks them so badly. i tried gettin into stx but in vain. i had good marks in SLC (80%+) but cudnt make it thru the entrance exam. i had heard that there are so many clubs in stx and being in them will help to get into good colleges in US. thats why i wanted to study there so badly. i didn try rato b coz i cudnt afford it anyway.
i think competition is increasing every year bcoz of the conflict in nepal due to which many of the bright students from nepal who wud usually have studeid in nepal choose to go abroad. in conclusion, it all depends upon the students knowledge of the process. if u ask me, my friends are unaware of the fact that US colleges provide scholarships! so many of them went to US in december all paying full expenses. there were ppl who cud have done well in SAT but just didn’t know of the opportunities that were there so didnt take the test. So anyone who knows abt the us college stuff in detail will surely be in the competition for a good coll. shail619, i hope u r not implying that only bnk students should go to good colleges. if someone is a good student, he should be able to go to a good college in the US, doesn’t matter where he studied highschool.

i dont think shail619 implied that…cricster…any good student from any school from any country should be able to go to any college…however, it seems that high school backgrounds play a significant role in one’s application…i think the transition in part may be because of bnks passive nature…the school doesnt write about the schools history…or about the competitive nature of the school’s admission processl…but some of my friends from sxc had that mentioned in their recommendations…so that gives the applicant a new (superior) image…and the other reasons as you said are the dissemination of the application process…and etc.

which +2 did you go to?

anyway, it is too early to compare college placements when regular decisions are yet to come

this is not only about this year, but from a few years back…infact +2 st xaviers is doing pretty good as well…sending students into real good colleges…
