Class of 2011 from Nepal...lets discuss here

for buddhaforever, all in good spirit. i had not mentioned it. hopfully you didnot took it otherwise.

when i said they didn’t know about SAT, i didn’t mean that they had no idea of what SAT meant. they knew about it but were not willing to believe that they cud actually get scholarships only by doing well on it,coming from a plus two. i myself don’t believe i have a good shot at good colleges. my friends and i did go to usef seminar to get more information but felt discouraged from the speakers there as they emphasized frequently that scholarships are limited in undergrad level. so i cudn’t do much in convincing my friends to take the sat and wait for a year as i am doing esp. when they had the financial resources to take the difficult route unlike me.

people at USEF are annoying!!! my frens go there and return discouraged or embarrassed

unlike my friends, i am still here waiting for replies from good colleges not bcoz i was the clever guy in the pack but bcoz i’m a poor guy who cant afford to pay all the fees.

another reason why my friends didn’t show interest in SAt and scholarships is bcoz we are from commerce stream and they say that in US u dont get scholarships for studying commerce. this is the reason why i’m not hopeful about getting into a good college with scholarship.

the truth is that commerce does have a disadvantage over science

i had a feeling that this was going to happen last night. darn it. missed it again.

very true. they are not just annoying but sometimes very rude. those who go to USEF for counselling should rather visit CC because ppl here know more information than they do. One of the guy there behaved so badly with me during my TOEFL for no apparent reason. anybody going to the USEF shud go only for some of the good books that they have.

davincicodes or sumone said that +2 St Xaviers also sends students to good school. I don’t think they have +2 anymore. to my knowledge, they stopped doing so from our batch. otherwise I wud definitely had studied there.

cricter, I completely agree with you. so many of my freinds enrolled themselves in this spring to colleges where they could have easily recieved good scholarship in August. another problem that we (+2 students) face is with the application procedure. I hate to say this but I was the only guy from my HS who used the common app!!! and the teachers had no clue what they were supposed to do with the teachers evaluation and the school report. whenever i go there, everyone asks me the same question. even the average students from our school are in the US now, and u being one of the best(or best rather) haven’t even got accepted from any school??? what should I tell them. all I say is " testai ho sir" ( that’s the way it is, sir). I hope my juniors who want to apply to good schools will receive some help for what I have started in the school.

no one is online when i am online. and I have the feeling that cable connections in Ktm is getting even worse than the dial up.

I use GPRS lol

I wonder which college might have received the most number of Nepali applicants this year…I would go for IUB…what about u guys?

hey tousin007, did u study at xaviers. class 10 samma?

ours guidance counselor is the worst. neither does he guide us nor does he counsel. he charges fees for signing forms and 130 rs. for recommendations and stuff. he writes the worst recs ever. F****k u Brooks…

no titanium. I studied St Xavier in class one and two. But I had to leave the school as my father was transferred to some other place. I completed my S.L.C from another school but I was certain that I wud go to Xaviers for my +2.

I guess u need to be an LTSer to get good reco’s from Brooks. btw was anyone of u in the LTS. GS may be.

yah… especially when so many papers are to be attested, it just sucks that GC takes so much…

i didnt know abt the termination of sxc’s +2 program… i was told by my brother that sxc +2 was really competitive, and last year one of the students got into both mit and dartmouth, but he chose to enroll in mit. can u confirm this ToUsin007?

and about USEF, it definitely is true that most people there are annoying…but there is a person called Gaurav…who’s really helpful.

What i feel is that the people at usef think they are really smart (they might be but still no point in trying to prove it to general public)…for instance…if someone happens to call there speaking in nepali…they start ‘lambasting’ in english…infact once my uncle was left speechless when the lady there went beserk in english…and i have to admit that a simple nepalese person can’t get the english of the ppl there…i guess residing inside the so called US building ‘she’ forgot that ‘she’ was still in Nepal and not in the States…it’s high time that ppl there get a real ‘shakeover’

yes Gaurav and Salina are gud ppl. but the short guy with a french cut is the one I am talking abt. yes davincicodes, I have so many relatives who go to st xaviers. they dont have a +2 now. I am positive on this one.
